Laboratory Technician I - CGT

Position Summary: The Laboratory Technician I- Cell and Gene Therapy, contributes to our mission by processing blood samples collected through leukapheresis for cryopreservation or further characterization based on standard operating procedures. Hours are approximately 10am-7pm, but can fluctuate based on business needs.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in biology or related field or 2 year MLT degree with ASCP certification

Qualification/Experience:

• Minimum of 1-3 years laboratory experience 

• Working knowledge of universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens, and handling human specimens 

• Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment

• Knowledge of aseptic techniques to maintain sterility and avoid cross-contamination 

• Keen attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures 

• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities :

• Utilize a variety of laboratory equipment including standard centrifuges and cellometer  

• Process blood products using universal precautions  

• Isolate MNCs and from whole blood collected by leukapheresis according to protocol

• Isolate human primary cells using immunomagnetic isolation technology

• Generate cryopreserved leukopaks following standard or custom protocols

• Generate and review Certificates of Analysis

• Testing of cryopreserved products and reagents

• Use appropriate decontamination procedures to clean equipment and laboratory areas  

• Cryopreserve primary cells  

• Characterize specific immune cell populations using flow cytometry

• Assist in monitoring and preparing reagents

• Measure cell viability using manual and automated systems  

• Analyze cell isolation purity using flow cytometry

• Track work and progress in NetSuite data management system

• Demonstrated ability to accurately follow work instructions and meet project timelines.
