08:00am - 05:00pm MT.

Summary/Objective of Position:

Under general supervision of the Director of IT. This is a Grant Contract position that may be extended or converted to career status based on the needs of the department. The Sr. Applications Developer works under moderate supervision and oversight in production support and/or project team environment to deliver both custom-developed and package-based software. Uses standard processes to code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the software development lifecycle.

The Sr. Applications Developer will learn to begin designing the following: Java and related tools, HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, PHP and related tools, Jenzabar and related tools, SQL Server, InfoMaker and other reporting tools, Document Management(Soft Docs).

1- Solid experience in technologies and products: J2EE, Java Servlets, XML, Web Services, SQL, SSL, etc.
2- Assists in translating business and system requirements into technical requirements and design documents for the proposed solution.
3- Uses standard processes to code, test, and analyze software programs and applications.
4- Contributes to estimates and performs coding and unit testing for custom-developed applications.
5- Performs quality assurance functions including unit testing, system testing, and integration testing.
6- Provides production support to existing applications as needed.
7- Adheres to software development lifecycle and service management processes.
8- Execute application coding, testing, integration, debugging and maintenance.
9- Responsible for ensuring security standards are met and business continuity activities are completed as needed.
10- Maintain documentation of code changes and programming activity.
11- Review and analyze error logs and reported problems. Determine cause of program failures and develop and implement corrective action or solicit support from the appropriate team member to make required modifications or enhancements.
12- Partners with the Principle Active Directory Engineer as well as other directory service managers (e.g., radius, ldap) to integrate third party vendor and application.
13- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
14- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, set priorities, and handle multiple tasks with concentration, speed and accuracy to meet deadlines.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience


Minimum:

Associate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in software programming.

A minimum of 3 years of experience performing application development and/or production support.

Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree


Knowledge:

1- Experience with any Workflow product.
2- Must be a team player and have the ability to work with a fast-paced/agile team with a focus on strong execution.
3- Actively learns through experimentation when handling new situations/problems and utilizes lessons from past successes and failures.
4- Experience with enterprise development concepts as it related to code management, quality standards, and security requirements.

Skills:

1- Solid experience in technologies and products: J2EE, Java Servlets, XML, Web Services, SQL, SSL, etc.
2- Some experience in Document Management.
3- Knowledge of any Student Information System.

Abilities:

1- Oral Fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not Mandatory.
2- Ability to master new technology quickly.
3- Proven ability to efficiently work in a team environment and bring projects to completions.
4- Ability to work well both independently and in a team with Faculty, Staff, and students.
5- Maintain Confidentiality.

1- Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
