Oversee the Front Desk and Lobby Reception areas; maintain coffee service for families and guests.
At all times, must present warmth, compassion, empathy, good manners, and diplomacy to grieving family members and guests. Present a genuine smile out of kindness.
Answer incoming calls promptly using proper telephone etiquette.
Take First Calls, obtain embalming and removal permission, quote pricing and schedule appointments.
Follow-up with different departments to insure families and guests are taken care of with a high level of customer service.
Act on calls from external customers, including other cemeteries and mortuaries, to provide cemetery products and service selections, to include disposition of remains, contracts, and payments.
May be asked to assist customers in person with arranging for disposition of remains, presenting cemetery products and service selections, finalizing contracts, and payment.
Think critically about work processes, troubleshoot situations, and take remedial action.
Properly identify human remains against the paperwork prior to receiving them.
Manage the chain of custody of cremated human remains.
Set up visitation rooms/chapels and welcome/assist guests and visitors.
Provide step by step guidance on Chinese/Buddhist cultural rituals to families and guests during the funeral service.
Ability to touch up human remains’ makeup.
Adhere to Company policies, procedures, rules, and controls.
Adhere to safety rules and regulations, and report unsafe practices to management.
Act on customer complaints to provide satisfactory resolution.
Making deposits daily and prepare reports for accounting department.
Participate in training and skill development opportunities to improve competency and customer service.
Report to work on time and maintain standard attendance.
Work overtime as needed, as daily work must be completed before leaving; must work rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
Minimum of 3 years experience in a business environment (mortuary and/or cemetery experience preferred)
Excellent ability to communicate persuasively, both verbally and in written form, with customers, co-workers, and management team
Must pass competency test demonstrating knowledge of cemetery, crematory, and mortuary laws
Associates degree in business preferred.
CA Driver’s License
Must be able to pass a lift test with the ability to frequently lift a minimum of 50lbs and occasionally lift 100+ lbs.
MS Office software
Experience and Education:
Two years in a fast-paced customer service environment where warmth and compassion were developed
Previous reception experience helpful

High level of communication and listening skill
