Responsibilities
Laboratory Assistant III primarily performs laboratory specimen processing, specimen sendouts and/or Microbiology specimen processing (including AFB processing). Performs clerical and phlebotomy functions (including pediatric and nursery), as described in the Laboratory Assistant I and II job descriptions, as assigned. Applies CHW Core Values to the performance of every job duty. These Values include Dignity, Collaboration, Justice, Stewardship, and Excellence.
Two years of college in biological sciences preferred. Minimum of 1 year experience in performing laboratory specimen processing, specimen send-out protocol, and/or microbiology specimen processing/plating (including AFB processing) required. Current: Certificate of Phlebotomy. (Future: Must qualify for and receive Calif. Dept of Health Services, CPT-1 Certified Phlebotomy Technician Certificate
Qualifications

Minimum of 3-5 years combined experience in healthcare industry 1-2 years of experience with a minimum of 1 year in area of related field Complete annual safety training. Complete and maintain department specific training. Ability to perform all phlebotomy functions, including adult, pediatric and neonates. Familiarity with medical terminology and basic typing skills required. Current: Certificate of Phlebotomy. (Future: Must qualify for and receive Calif. Dept of Health Services, CPT-1 Certified Phlebotomy Technician Certificate)
