Job Description

The Crew Leader is responsible for job setup, direct support, and supervision of mobile crew employees. In addition, the Crew Leader is responsible for driving the mobile crew safely and effectively and is responsible for providing support and direction to the mobile crew for the collection of garbage from buildings, businesses, and other facilities as per schedule to ensure garbage is removed, transported and disposed of according to set policies. This role is also responsible for a garbage removal.

  • Responsible for providing downtime activities when consumers are not directly engaged in contract work to include vocational training, skill-building in areas chosen by the consumer, daily living skills, health, and safety training, etc. according to Individual Support Plan (ISP) goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for job setup and supervision of mobile crew employees.
  • Training employees on how to do assigned production work and in using equipment and supplies appropriately.
  • Responsible for driving the mobile crew safely and effectively.
  • Works alongside the consumer employees collecting garbage from residential buildings, businesses, and other facilities, per contract.
  • Transporting trash and waste to the proper disposal area according to set policies and procedures.
  • Operate all equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks to ensure areas are clean, tidy, and free from waste.
  • Clean vans as scheduled and/or required.
  • Maintain daily records of pick-ups.
  • Does effective quality control of employee hours, job performed, and performance level.
  • Implements consumer goals and objectives as per employee's most recent individual service plan and submits progress reports as required.
  • Providing daily narrative notes in Lauris on consumer progress towards consumer goals, objectives, and support needs.
  • Schedules and assigns individual employees to appropriate tasks daily.
  • Assures adequate stock of supplies for production within the assigned work area.
  • Informs Program Manager I of shortages, breakage, delays, etc., that may interfere with efficient coordination and operation.
  • Provides leadership to staff by fostering teamwork while balancing team and individual responsibilities; gives feedback to nurture a positive team spirit and quality performance; and models dependability, hard work, strong business ethics, and professional personal appearance.
  • Implements Didlake safety program and reports problems and incidents immediately.
  • Fosters an atmosphere that promotes Human Rights for all consumers and ensures training, incident reporting, and awareness of responsibilities of all personnel regarding Human Rights matters.
  • Ensure Group Supported Employment services are in full compliance with Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Settings Regulations;
  • In a setting that is integrated into and supports full access to the greater community;
    • Is selected by the individual from a variety of settings options;
    • Ensures individual rights of privacy, dignity, respect, and freedom from coercion and restraint;
    • Optimizes autonomy and independence in making life choices;
    • Facilitates choice regarding services and who provides them.
    • Requires that the person-centered planning process is directed by the individual or individual's chosen representative;
    • Outlines the minimum requirements for person-centered service plans with individually identified goals and preferences.
  • Informs the Rehabilitation Department of employee progress, incidents, accidents, and achievements.
  • Pick-ups and deliveries as assigned.
  • Performs administrative duties including paperwork requirements and answers telephone.
  • Assists consumers with personal care need such as hygiene and toileting.
  • Responsible for obtaining and carrying out instructions in both written and oral form.
  • Cleans and maintains their work environment as necessary (i.e. the office and van).
  • Completes and maintains all Didlake required training.

Requirements

Education:

  • HS Diploma/GED plus 2 years of relevant work experience or AA degree in a related field. Prior experience working with people with disabilities is required.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work positively with other co-workers and departments as a team.
  • Must possess familiarity with computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under Didlake's automobile policy.
  • Be willing to use your vehicle for travel.
  • Be deemed eligible for hire by DBHDS and DSS in accordance with the criminal registry background check.
