Human Resource Manager

This position is responsible for aligning business objectives with team members and management in designated business unit while being directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of human resource functions.
  • Formulates partnerships across the Human Resources (HR) function to deliver value-added service to management and team members that reflect that business objectives of the organization.
  • Partners with team members and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations.
  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data, and make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations; resolves complex team member relations issues such as team member complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints.
  • Responsible to gather information and draft correspondence in response to unemployment claims; represents the Company in unemployment hearings as needed.
  • Responds to all affirmative action, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and/or National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) charges, where applicable.
  • Represents management in investigating, answering and settling grievances, by arranging and scheduling grievance hearings, where applicable.
  • Assists with interviews, screens, and recruits job applicants to fill job openings.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with respective business units.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of team members, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Partners with the Legal Department, as needed or required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (i.e. coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and team members to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs and follow-up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Facilitates or provides training (including orientation) to the workforce.
  • Coordinates and participates on committees and with team member recognition programs.
  • Conducts work of subordinates, as needed.
  • Completes all required Company trainings and compliance courses as assigned.
  • Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 
  • Technical/Trade school certification or equivalent experience in related field. 
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the human resources field required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience in the human resources field required.
This position spends the majority of the time (50% or more) achieving organization objectives, often through the coordinate achievements of subordinate staff.  A portion of the time may be spent performing individual tasks related similar to those performed by direct reports, but primary duties are supervisory or organizational-goal related.  Analyzes and resolves problems, determines work techniques, monitors for regulatory compliance, maintains production, interprets and creates policies, and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. 
Establishes departmental goals and objectives, functions with independence, and makes decisions on matters of significant importance.  Manages human, financial, and/or physical resources; proactively assesses risk to establish systems and procedures to protect organizational assets.   Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action; develops systems to ensure subordinates adhere to policies and procedures in compliance with organizational goals and objectives. 
Specific supervisory duties include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Determines and creates policies, procedures and manuals for direct reports.
  • Establishes objectives and goals for the team; plans, organizes and manages work flow.
  • Assigns, monitors, and reviews work; evaluates direct report's performance.
  • Recruits, interviews, train, disciplines, and terminate direct reports. 
  • Orientates and trains direct reports.
  • Approves time records and time off requests; submits payroll for direct reports.
  • Investigates and resolves concerns and complaints.
  • Provides assistance and support; maintains a positive and professional working environment. 
  • Driver's License (non-commercial) - must be state-specific.
This position requires the capability to understand and follow both oral and written directions as well as knowledge and usage of correct business English and office practices.  Must be able to communicate effectively with others, analyze and resolve problems, maintain effective working relationships, and interact successfully with internal and external customers.
Specific skills and abilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Understand how to develop and implement business strategies.
