A Demolition Field Mechanic is responsible for various functions including, but not limited to:

 

  • Under limited supervision performs work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of Demolition-specific heavy equipment.
  • Diagnoses, rebuilds, and repairs Demolition equipment
  • Performs inspections and preventive maintenance of Demolition equipment, while following company and MFG guidelines.
  • Prepares and maintains records and reports
  • May act as lead person in supervisor’s absence

 

Aptitude/Abilities/Skills: 

  • Follow company safety practices
  • Diagnosing mechanical problems and perform repairs.
  • Field Fabrication
  • Knowledge of computer controllers
  • Use of diagnostic equipment, including Cat ET, John Deere Service Advisor
  • Extensive knowledge of Acetylene and electric arc welding, (stick and mig)
  • Extensive knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of Labounty shears is a plus
  • Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 60 pounds
  • Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Prepare and maintain records and reports
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • 5 years of related experience required
  • Clean driving record with a CDL required
  • Occasional overtime may be necessary during peak times
  • Must be capable of working in a team environment.
