The purpose of this position is to support the financial viability of the corporation by effectively managing all aspects of the corporation’s business to business collections through effective communication and a positive customer service attitude. This includes building/maintaining a cohesive and effective staff; day-to-day management of departmental staff; modifying and maintaining policies; continually seeking mechanisms to streamline and automate processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee day to day activities of collections staff
- Drive team performance through key performance metrics
- Review and modify collections processes and procedures as needed
- Implement new collections processes as needed
- Oversee customer accounts reviews and communication with consumers and businesses regarding past due invoices and over/short payments via emails, letters and telephone calls.
- Assess and refine workload of collections team and apportion responsibilities for greater efficiency.
- Sponsor and support the development of process improvements to increase effectiveness of AR team.
- Maintain documentation and procedures in accordance with company policy.
- Provide support requested during audits.
- Assumes and performs other duties as assigned.

- Minimum 5 years’ industry experience
- Informal leadership experience required
- 2+ years supervisory experience overseeing collections or like function preferred
- Previous experience with business to business collections
- Industry knowledge of credit assessment and management practices
- Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this area. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Motivates staff on day to day activities, approves employee time cards, coaches and mentors staff.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instruction and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. In addition, ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
