Job Description

We are a commercial real estate development company located in Sherman Oaks.

We are looking to hire ONLY someone who is local for a legal assistant/legal secretary/paralegal position with COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE experience. This position will often work alongside the in-house counsel.

This is a full-time temporary position (to possible permanent assignment)

This is an in-house position, M-F 9-6p (NOT HYBRID, NOT REMOTE)

We are specifically looking for these qualities:

  • Commercial Real Estate experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion and good judgment
  • Understanding of real estate terminology such as type of leases (triple net leases, commercial leases) common area, etc.
  • Draft case factual memorandums with relevant exhibits
  • Take dictation (must type over 60+ WPM)
  • Prepare chronological timelines
  • Keep legal files organized (paper and digital)
  • Keep calendar for all legal cases
  • Assist with and understand litigation including discovery issues such production of documents
  • draft summons, proof of service, deposition subpoenas, admissions, interrogatories, etc
  • review depositions and prepare deposition summaries
  • create case summaries
  • index legal exhibits
  • assist in-house and outside counsels in preparing for depositions, trials, mediation, and arbitration
  • proven experience performing under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • understand tenant-landlord issues
  • understanding of some financing issues
  • legal files organization (paper and digital)
  • strong attention to detail
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • possess a high level of work ethic
  • skills to handle the review of complex issues
  • draft letters, memos, emails and correspondences, answering the phone, copying, scanning when needed
  • review of legal bills
  • assist with selection of attorneys/law firms
  • 7+ years of Paralegal/ Real Estate Litigation Assistant experience in a law firm
  • must have worked with commercial Real Estate matters in the past (familiar with real estate law, tenant-landlord issues, transactional law, and real estate litigation).
  • knowledge of acquisition and sale transactions and commercial loan documentation, including experience in handling and overseeing closing requirements, contract administration, title, survey and entitlements, due diligence review, as applied to commercial real estate transactions
  • strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office and other legal software applications
  • proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel
  • conduct internet research
  • conduct legal research when needed
  • ability to work effectively and efficiently with attorneys, clients, and lenders, title companies, filing offices, and other outside organizations
  • be able to work flexible hours and overtime as required
  • demonstrated experience as a commercial real estate legal assistant/legal secretary/paralegal with knowledge in review of title, survey and closing of commercial real estate transactions
  • ability to handle closing aspects of a commercial real estate sale and purchase, including review of title and survey matters
  • possess superb organization, time management, and multitasking skills as well as excellent collaboration and communication abilities
  • prior capability to provide top-quality, proactive, accurate and effective legal support in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision
  • performs other related duties as assigned

  • this position is best suited for someone who is tolerant, with thick skin, who excels in a demanding environment

SALARY IS BASED ON EXPERIENCE (NOTE: this is a company with less than 15 employees.



  • This is a full time in-office position in Sherman Oaks, please confirm what city you will be commuting from.
  • The office hours are from 9am – 6pm and some after hours will be needed pending on deadlines.
