Immediate position available. Ideal candidate will:
Have some previous role in construction management, site supervision, a degree in construction management, or have worked in construction, and is seeking to transition from a skilled trade into a management role;
Be ambitious, and dedicated to learning new skills;
Have the right mix of confidence and humility to take instruction from supervisors, communicate professionally with customers, and hold respect with employees;
Will have strong organizational skills, take careful notes, and manage time and activities;
Will be comfortable with the nature of the construction worksite environment, including working at height, using temporary restroom facilities, working through inclement weather, and communicating with employees who speak English as a second language;
Will be serious about following and enforcing site rules, safety standards, and company policies;
Will be sufficiently knowledgeable of construction trade materials and terminology to prepare lists of needed materials, tools and parts, and will be able to assist in the ordering and delivery of such items, including understand how to safely accept boom truck, waste container, and similar drop-offs and pickups;
Will be comfortable with the use of computer and mobile applications, including email and Google Drive, and capable of learning to use other applications, as necessary;
Will be comfortable seeking solutions to technical problems, both by researching, and by knowing when to ask a question;
Will be hands-on in performing basic site activities, including installing temporary protection materials, measuring and marking locations for materials and equipment installation, building temporary worksite office spaces and tool storage areas, organizing tools and materials, managing waste and site cleanliness, and performing similar manual activities;
Will be responsible for opening and closing work locations, securing tools and materials, arming alarm systems, turning on and off electrical power and lighting in morning and evening, and for performing related site management activities;
Will be prepared to commute to work locations in all areas of Brooklyn and Manhattan, and may be asked to use means of public transport to move between locations in the course of a work day;
Ideal candidate will have 30 hour OSHA training, but, training will be provided to an otherwise well-qualified hire.
