This contracted position is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Health Services team in Bend Oregon. Deschutes County Health Services - Behavioral Health Division is seeking a part-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to work with a newly developed Deschutes County Stabilization Center(DCSC). The position will be part of a multidisciplinary team approach to help divert individuals in mental health crisis from jails and hospital emergency rooms. Services will include a full range of psychiatric assessments, medication management, consultation, and clinical leadership. Position is 20 hours per week. This position is funded through a Bureau of Justice Assistance Grant and is limited duration for 2.5 years.
All contractors will be required to certify that they meet the requirements to be an independent contractor, and to submit proof of Professional and General Liability coverage. It is required that Deschutes County be added as an additional insured to General Liability coverage. More detailed information on contractor and insurance requirements is available upon request.

$100 to $120 per hour. There are no County benefits with this position.
This position is open until filled.
Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university. Possession of or ability to obtain by start date a license to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority in the State of Oregon, including certification from American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in area of specialty. Requires a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate.
Preferred for this position:
+ Experience providing crisis services.
+ Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Must have knowledge and experience with:
+ Psychiatric principles and practices, laws, rules and regulations governing the provision of care to patients in the State of Oregon.
+ Processes, procedures and theories of clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment of behavioral health clients.
+ Principles, practices and theories of clinical education of patients in the areas of psychiatric care.
Must have a demonstrated ability or skill to:
+ Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
+ Work with computer applications related to work.
+ Provide licensed medical services in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules.
+ Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, clients, community partners and other social or medical agencies at all times.
+ Deal with sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality of privileged information, as well as comply with all privacy and security regulations.
+ Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
+ Respond calmly and professionally in crisis, stressful, and emergency situations.
Necessary Special Requirements
Possession of or ability to obtain the required licensure to practice in the State of Oregon by start date.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule when necessary, to meet client and department needs.
Computer literacy with strong typing and computer skills required.
Physical Requirements: Requires sufficient ambulatory ability to drive throughout Deschutes County to different office or community locations when needed. Must have the ability to work in an office that is environmentally controlled; possess sufficient hand coordination to perform keyboarding and data entry; arm/hand movements to retrieve work materials and operate a variety of general office equipment. The position is frequently required to sit, walk, reach, stand, grasp, talk, hear, and see; may occasionally be required to stoop, bend, kneel and lift up to 10 pounds.
