The DCPA Theatre Company champions the most exciting new voices in our field, while reaching to great stories of the past to illuminate the present. Job Opening

The DCPA Theatre Company is seeking a Literary Associate for a 15-week job opening who will work 30 hours per week.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to support, maintain, and move forward the daily operations of the DCPA Literary Department. The Literary Associate works closely with DCPA Literary Manager and artistic team to advocate both internally and to the broader theater field for playwrights and new plays. In all endeavors, works towards the DCPA’s mission and vision, and ensures that the work aligns with values of equity, access and inclusion.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Reading and reporting on 3-5 scripts per week.
  • Research as it pertains to departmental operations.
  • Tracking, updating, and organizing literary properties.

 

Qualifications 

  • Strong analytical skills and dramaturgical knowledge for a wide diversity of plays.
    • Deep appreciation and understanding of the new play development process.  
  • Excellent communication skills.
    • Able to engage in deep, meaningful conversations about work in progress. 
  • Team-oriented, collaborative worker and thinker.
    • Innovative thinker with a strong equity, accessibility and inclusivity analysis.
  • Organized administrator.
    • Computer proficiency required including work with databases and calendar programs
      • Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel

None

 

Working Conditions

This position operates in a professional office or remote environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.

 

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read and communicate.
