Job Summary
Dental Assistants, or Certified Dental Assistants, are responsible for providing hands-on support to the clinical team and completing prep work so they can more efficiently care for patients. Their duties include completing intake paperwork and updating patient records, taking necessary x-rays, sterilizing and organizing dental tools and assisting during dental procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet patients
- Update and maintain patient records
- Take X-rays and intraoral photos of patients
- Schedule patient appointments
- Present treatment to patients
- Assist clinicians during dental procedures
- Sterilize instruments and clean rooms and ensure all infection control policies are being followed
- Prepare operatories for patient visits
Required Skills/Abilities
- Certified according to state regulations
- X-ray Certified
- Ability to move fast
- Ability to engage with patients
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of practice management software
- X-Ray Certified (depending on state)
- 2+ years in dental assisting is preferred but not required
- Able to take impressions
- CEREC Knowledge and ability to image and design restorations
Physical Demands
- Is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms
- Is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
- Has the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
- Works in moderate noise May be required to lift packages up to 25 pounds
