IT Systems Engineer

The primary functions of this position are as follows:

• Some Project Design and Planning
• Project Implementation
• Deploying cloud services (Office 365, Azure, Citrix VDA, etc.)

This position provides training, opportunity, and even assistance in gaining certifications for qualified individuals meeting performance goals.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities

• Acting as a point of technical escalation and handling escalations to the point of completion
• Mentorship and guidance for less experienced employees
• Perform occasional Sales Engineering as qualified
• Provides advanced technical support for project implementations
• Occasionally create System Design Documents
• Occasionally research product selections to meet client objectives
• Explicit escalations: Escalations that have been explicitly escalated up to a System Engineer
• Develop in-depth knowledge of our company’s products and services.
• Ensure self-improvement through experience, observation, introspection, reading and discussion (you are responsible for your own development and career)
• Attend trainings and stay up to date on the latest technology trends.
• Mentor other technical staff members to accelerate their professional development and to ensure transfer of skills, knowledge, and professional practice as well as company values and best practices.

Requirements

Education/Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Five years or more in I.T. business as a field technician
• With an associate degree or better in an IT field, only three years of experience will be required.
• Advanced proven ability and knowledge to effectively troubleshoot network issues including routers, firewalls, cabling, servers, workstations, laptops, hardware, and software
• Ample experience with business network Systems required
• Responsiveness and proactive mindset
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks

Computer Skills (should have experience with the all the following)

• Knowledge of Internet protocols (HTTP, TCP/IP, etc.)
• Windows Operating Systems, including Windows Desktop and Server
• Server roles, including Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, Print Services, File Services
• Server virtualization platforms, including Hyper-V and VMware
• Router and firewall technologies, including IP routing, NAT, and VPN
• IPv4 Networking, including IP subnet planning and VLANs
• Microsoft Exchange
• Microsoft 365
• MS SQL 2005-2016 Server Support
• Windows RDS
• Common desktop software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox
• Backup & Disaster Recovery solutions, including Veeam, Acronis, and Azure
• Virus/malware prevention and eradication techniques
• Basic scripting (batch, PowerShell, etc.)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Microsoft Certified Professional having passed any server related exam
• Three or more MS certificates (current)
• CCNA or Sophos Certified Architect (preferred)
• An associate degree or better in an IT field (preferred)

Other Skills & Abilities

• An incredible proven ability to troubleshoot high level technical issues and design solutions
• A working knowledge of the prevalent and latest Microsoft Windows workstation and server environments
• Ability to configure and troubleshoot business Internet connectivity and security
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Ability to effectively document technical work
