Delaware Valley Residential Care is currently seeking a Cognitive Therapist to meet the ever-changing social and therapeutic needs our program participants.
Responsibilities:
Develop, coordinate, and implement Community Outings based on the needs and wants of DVRC Residents. • Work with the Therapeutic Department Manger to develop a monthly Therapeutic Activity calendar. • Clean and organize all therapeutic dept storage on a weekly basis. • Schedule residents for outlined outings and submit outing documentation to the Therapeutic Admin Aide and Therapeutic Manager prior to all outings. • Formulate and follow outlined budgets for each outing that is scheduled. • Organize and formulate on-site activities in coordination with the therapeutic department to develop interpersonal relationships, to socialize effectively, and to develop confidence needed to participate in group activities. • Primary staff responsible for driving all vehicles for community outings. • Conduct and Assist rounds every morning and before each therapy session, either for group or individual, to encourage residents to participate in scheduled therapy/treatment. • Support, coordinate and/or facilitate special event planning activities (i.e., Holiday Parties, 4th of July celebrations...etc.). • Assist with purchasing, organizing, storing and distribution of cigarettes for all residents. • Assist in snack/cigarette distribution and organization. • Provided 1:1 therapeutic intervention as needed. • Compose Tally sheets, progress/service notes and all other necessary documents to be reviewed and signed by the licensed practitioner on staff. • Counsels and encourages patients to develop leisure activities. • Consult with other professionals to facilitate and maximize residents' participation in activities. • Prepares progress charts and periodic reports for medical staff and other members of treatment team, reflecting patients' reactions and evidence of progress or regression. • Work closely with the members of the therapeutic team to meet the needs of our program participants. • Provide flexibility to adapt to the ever-changing needs and personalized requests of DVRC's program participants. • Maintain a positive attitude and promote a positive work environment. • Follow expected dress code. • Prepares and submits requisition for needed supplies in a timely manner. • Obtain CBIS Certification after 6 months of hire. • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from four-year College/University in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related Human Service field
Ability to formulate and coordinate in-house activities and community outings.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, distance...etc.
Ability to work independently and effectively with residents and staff.
Ability to deal with varied personalities and situations involving staff and residents.
Ability to function successfully in a team environment.
Must be available to work on the weekends (Saturday & Sunday), holidays and flexible schedule during the week.
