Job Description


The Director Systems Engineering will manage, support, provide direction and leadership to the New Product Development, Design and Solution Architect teams. This position requires the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interface closely with key stakeholders and other departments such as Sales, Project Management, Product Management and Manufacturing. This position also requires directing and supporting problem investigation and resolution requests from both internal and external customers as well as managing customer escalations. This individual is someone who will bring knowledge and creativity to the position as well as have the discipline to drive results and follow established best practices and well-defined processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Harness cross-functional teams to help execute the Business Strategy leading to successful technology solutions development and deployment
  • Execute a disciplined approach to product development with milestone tracking and commanding the necessary cross-disciplined resources in the organization to win key customers
  • Directly manage engineering resources via technical resource planning and task prioritization to ensure focus on proper business priorities and execution of projects to committed dates
  • Work with cross-functional leaders to identify and apply resources to customer escalations and other internal projects
  • Work with cross-functional business groups to ensure key milestones are met
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the development of new processes and continuous improvement of existing processes
  • Focus on technical skills and capabilities development by identifying gaps and driving training and development needs of the team
  • Drive internal and external customer satisfaction through development and maintenance of metrics that reflect actual team performance
  • Use defined metrics to drive improved team performance and efficiency
  • Provide functional ownership of the platform qualification and launch processes
  • Lead the team through aggressive goal setting, coaching, development and guidance of team members, performance reviews and administrative tasks
  • Own the development and improvement of testing and validation processes that improve team productivity, product reliability and quality; reduce time-to-market cycle time; and optimize product cost
  • Provide assistance to Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality departments and prepare reports for any defects
  • Work closely with Product Management, Sales, and Business Development leaders in developing the right products and services that meet customer business & application requirements; Coordinate with various vendors, partners and outside resources as required
  • Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives and processes are in conformance with organization's established policies and objectives



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or other related field and 15+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10 years of leadership experience; capable of building and growing teams
  • Familiarity with a variety of hardware engineering & platform development concepts, best practices and procedures
  • Ability to plan and accomplish goals
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional leaders to ensure correct business prioritization of engineering projects
  • Ability to lead or participate in concurrent projects while maintaining project schedules
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and project management tools
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently


  • Project Management certifications (PMI)
  • Exposure to Agile and Lean concepts and/or training
  • Process development and/or improvement experience (Six Sigma, Kaizen)
