Summary:
The Building Mechanic position exists to oversee the order and upkeep of all aspects and parts of the facility, including but not limited to floors, walls, ceilings, and lighting. To keep the properties clear and clean, painting, simple plumbing, electrical, carpentry; and keeping equipment clean and free of dirt. This position reports to the Maintenance Department Lead.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recycle and Waste Management: To organize recycled waste materials with Vendors.
  • Place calls for material collection, assist in loading recycle trailers, load metal recycles bins, empty dumpsters, office recycling, and other environmental recycling or disposal.
  • To support Purchasing, Shipping, and Maintenance for the arrival of purchased products, review packing slips, and forward items to the correct requestor, manage inventory of facility goods, and report counts when low.
  • Responsible for performing a wide variety of housekeeping duties for the facility and grounds, following proper housekeeping procedures and techniques.
  • Duties include sweeping, wiping, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, washing windows, shoveling snow, emptying trash, and maintaining all outdoor areas.
  • To work independently of Instruction, vigilance in staying productive and on top of the work tasks.
  • To work PROACTIVE of Instruction, to find and discover issues, solve them and report them to the Lead.
  • Do simple plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, or lighting as needed. Prepare properties for Summer and Winter: Evaporative Coolers, Roof Heaters, Filters et cetera.
  • Able to operate forklifts, floor scrubbers or Scissors lifts safely.
  • Must be able to understand and follow written or verbal instructions and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
  • When requested, to support production and operate equipment during times when production deadlines or staff shortages warrant it.
  • Part Runs in Private or Company vehicles. Must carry auto insurance, be able to pass a CDOT background check, and track miles for reimbursement.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. 

Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma required.
  • Prior manufacturing plant work experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with plumbing, carpentry, and electrical is strongly preferred. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English;
  • Ability to count;
  • Ability to accurately read a measuring tape;
  • Ability to learn;
  • Willingness to follow instructions, ask questions and work as a member of a team.
  • Must carry auto insurance, be able to pass a CDOT background check, and keep track of company business miles for reimbursement.
