Substance Use Disorder Counselor
Full time licensed substance abuse counselor or equivalent in an outpatient mental health and substance use disorder treatment program. The counselor will be working morning-afternoon hours (5 AM-1 PM). The counselor must be well versed in evidence-based approaches for treating persons with substance use disorders. Counselors are supported by a full team, including an LCSW director, a CMHC clinical supervisor, psychiatrist, nurse, and fellow counselors and therapists.
Position involves all aspects of substance use treatment, including intakes, assessments, treatment planning, and individual and group counseling regarding all issues that impact addiction and mental health conditions. The counselor will also engage in discharge planning. Counselors are given latitude to use the evidence-based approaches they feel would work best with a given client/patient.
The counselor must have a license or certification at a bachelor's or master’s level that allows them to provide substance use counseling, such as Certified Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counselor, Licensed Substance Use Disorder Counselor. Individuals with an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Certified Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Licensed counselors/therapists who require supervision will receive clinical supervision from an LCSW and CMHC.
