The Clinical Nutrition Laboratory Technician is responsible for the preparation, distribution, inventory and management of both Human Milk (HM) and Donor Human Milk (DHM) and the preparation and delivery of all ready to feed and specially prepared formulas at Dayton Children's Hospital. This position requires demonstrated competencies in appropriate technical calculation, knowledge of common medical abbreviations and terminologies, and computer literacy. Additionally, the Nutrition Lab Tech must demonstrate skills in working and communicating under demanding conditions and an ability to focus on the success of the team versus the individual. This person must exemplify the 6 Core Values of Dayton Children's. It is not enough to say they care about the children; they must demonstrate it. Excellent communication skills and creative problem solving skills are necessary to achieve the number one goal of patient satisfaction. Previous clinical lab experience preferred, as is a Human Milk Technician Certification.
Required: High school diploma/ GED, 1-5 years of experience, Technical calculations (weights & measures, including metrics), Knowledge of common medical abbreviations and terminologies, Strong communication skills, Computer literacy (will use MS Word, electronic medical record, and Timeless Medical software daily).
Preferred: Appropriate certification or college degree, 5-10 years of experience, Human Milk Technician Certification, Clinical Laboratory or Human Tissue Bank experience.
