We are seeking an insurance coverage litigation attorney with three to seven years of litigation experience to join our law firm. Notably, insurance coverage is substantially different than general insurance defense. Most of our coverage cases involve underlying construction defect lawsuits, so knowledge of construction law is a plus, but not required. Although this is a litigation position, it involves significant legal writing. Only proficient writers need apply.
A typical week for the attorney will involve drafting detailed motions to the Court and opinions to the client. Most of our cases are in federal court and, therefore, the cases are usually resolved "on the papers" without a hearing. With this, it means that we only go to court once or twice a month, but when we do we are extremely prepared. Also, it means that attention to detail in our legal briefs is of the utmost importance as this is sometimes the only interaction we have with the Court. Accordingly, the attorney will not be in court several times a week (which, you may find, is actually preferable), but the candidate should also be ready and willing to go when necessary.
- Proficient writing ability
- Law Review and/or federal clerkship a huge plus
- Willingness to learn new areas of the law
- Positive attitude
- Court / deposition experience
- Cover Letter
- Writing Sample (Previous MSJ or other detailed motion preferred)
The starting salary is $60-90,000, depending on experience. For exceptional candidates that meet all of the requirements above, including the requisite experience, the salary will be toward the higher end of the scale. For candidates with less than three years of experience, the salary would be toward the lower end.
We offer clerkship starting bonuses and/or significant pay bumps for federal MDFL and Eleventh Circuit law clerks.
For qualified candidates, there will be an opportunity to earn a bonus or increase in pay based on productivity.
We offer a matching Vanguard 401k. Also, we are in the process of implementing a firm-wide medical insurance plan.
