We are looking for an insurance coverage litigation attorney with at least one year of litigation experience to join our firm. Most of our coverage cases involve underlying construction defect lawsuits, so knowledge of construction law is a plus, but not required. Notably, insurance coverage is substantially different than general insurance defense. Although this is a litigation position, it involves significant legal writing. Only proficient writers need apply.
The attorney will be attending depositions and mediations weekly. A typical day for the attorney involves drafting detailed motions to the Court and opinions to the client. Most of our cases are in federal court and, therefore, the cases are usually resolved "on the papers" without a hearing. With this, it means that we only go to court once or twice a month, but when we do we are extremely prepared. Also, it means that attention to detail in our legal briefs is of the utmost importance as this is sometimes the only interaction we have with the Court. Accordingly, the attorney will not be in court several times a week (which some attorneys may find preferable), but the candidate should also be ready and willing to go when necessary.
- Proficient writing ability
- Law Review and/or federal clerkship a huge plus
- Willingness to learn new areas of the law
- Positive attitude
- Court / deposition experience
- Cover Letter - (Likely required to be E-Mailed separately depending on which job board this appears on)
The starting base salary is $65,000-$105,000, depending on experience, plus monthly and yearly bonuses for meeting minimum hour requirements. For exceptional candidates that meet all of the requirements above, with several years experience, the salary will be toward the higher end of the scale. For candidates with less experience, the salary would be toward the lower end. However, all attorneys are eligible for a minimum of $1,000 monthly bonus for hitting monthly hour requirements, as well as a year-end bonus for hitting yearly requirements.
We offer clerkship starting bonuses and/or significant pay bumps for federal MDFL and Eleventh Circuit law clerks.
We offer a matching 401k, health insurance, dental, and life insurance.
