The University of Virginia Darden School of Business, one of the world's leading business schools, seeks a highly motivated sales professional to join its Execution Education team. The Director of the Executive Program, Lifelong Learning will be primarily responsible for sales of Darden’s flagship open enrollment program, The Executive Program (TEP) to participants in the US and globally. In addition, this position will manage the program’s budget and oversee the delivery and management of the program. The Director of TEP, Lifelong Learning will collaborate with the EE marketing team and others in EE to develop strategy and implementation activities for the successful sales and marketing and will also collaborate with Program Managers for the successful delivery of The Executive Program.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Sales: Create and implement a sales strategy for The Executive Program. Target and identify specific clients and organizations that would benefit from attending the program. Develop plans to contact and convert clients. Identify strategic relationships with external entities such as trade and professional associations and membership organizations. Manage and track an active enrollment pipeline for sales opportunities.
  • Enrollments and Administration: Ensure the appropriateness of participants for the program, i.e., right seniority and background, to ensure a robust cohort for optimal learning. Effectively and independently handle client issues surrounding the sales and enrollment and act as a resource for past participants who may need guidance and resolution of issues. Proactively address and correct customer service issues, problems or complaints and use judgment in referring complicated or sensitive issues to the Executive Director of Open Enrollment and Digital Programs. Communicate special needs for participants and help maintain an open communication line for client concerns.
  • Financial: Ensure good financial outcomes for the program. This includes maintenance of the program budget, working with Program Managers and faculty to ensure adherence to these budgets and review of budgets with finance. Approve program cancellations and transfers and assess and collect penalty fees. Ensure participant correspondence is sent on a timely basis, and that processes are in place to monitor outstanding balances and collections.

Successful candidates will have a proven record of accomplishment that includes:

Experience:

  • Five years minimum experience in sales and/or delivery of high touch educational programs
  • Professional customer service experience over phone, email and in person
  • Frequent interaction with individuals of high influence

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proven ability to drive sales individually and through others, communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team environment that includes cross-functional project teams
  • Understanding of Executive Education and ideally experience in OE programs or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills with all levels of management, faculty and business community: written, oral; individual, small groups and formal presentations
  • Understanding of trends in business/management thinking, executive development, and corporate strategy
  • Strong orientation towards client satisfaction
  • A bias for action and commitment to continued personal growth
  • High-energy, self-starter with a confident can-do attitude and high level of discernment for prioritizing

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree plus 5+ years of experience in sales and marketing, executive education, or human resource management
