Job Description

The Darden School Foundation at the University of Virginia seeks a highly motivated Data and Reporting Analyst to support its Advancement team. The Data and Reporting Analyst provides data integrity oversight across multiple systems. The Data and Reporting Analyst work supports the Office of Advancement, the greater Darden Enterprise and more than 16,000 alumni, including alumni volunteers and leadership boards.

The Data and Reporting Analyst works closely with University Advancement Services and Darden Strategic IT. The ideal candidate is a continuous learner, someone who enjoys working with business stakeholders as well as focusing on individual analytical and technical tasks and has attention to detail and accuracy. This candidate is also adept in understanding the business drivers in order to develop analytical and technical solutions to support decision making.  *This position will be considered for part-time or full-time employment.*

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Enable strategic and operational decision making through maintaining and customizing analytics reporting in Power BI.
  • Support decision making through ad-hoc data modeling and statistical analysis in R or Python.
  • Process and audit philanthropic activity received for the Darden School of Business.
  • Interact with advancement and engagement staff to understand business. requirements, update data records, and generate reports and lists.
  • Prepare and produce advancement mailings including solicitations, acknowledgments, and pledge reminders.
  • Supports email marketing and assists with website updates.
  • Support donors directly in ways to facilitate philanthropic activity and documentation.
  • Assist team and partners across enterprises as needed in creating emails, copywriting and maintaining brand standards, formatting HTML, and defining mailing lists.
  • Maintain robust documentation for all data processes and procedures.

Successful candidates will have a proven track record that includes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum two years of office experience in an academic, business, or professional environment.
  • Experience as a power user or developer in business intelligence applications such as Power BI, Qlik, etc.
  • Knowledge, skill, and ability working with complex relational databases.
  • Experience working for a non-profit, foundation, or academic institution.
  • An understanding of philanthropic, sales or business development.
  • Knowledge and skill with email marketing including ability to work in HTML.
  • Experience with iModules and/or Salesforce Marketing Cloud is preferred.
  • Understanding of basic survey best practices and experience with Qualtrics.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds, training, and experience.
  • Ability to promote a positive image of the School and represent the School’s interests before the public, media, and other schools.
