JOB SUMMARY
The Paint Prep Technician is responsible for safely preparing aircraft parts including but not limited to mixing of paint, masking, sanding, cleaning, tracking. The Paint Prep Technician works under minimal supervision according to schedule using company quality standards and operating procedures.
REPORTS TO
The Paint Prep Technician directly reports to the Assembly Supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR POSITION
Education, Training, and/or Experience
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in Paint or Paint Prep preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, crouch and kneel for extended periods of time
- Frequently sit without support
- Regularly required to use eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills, and manual dexterity
- Regularly required to twist and reach to shoulder level
- Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Hearing level within normal/average range
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Proficient in the usage of hand tools and equipment associated with the paint prep process including DA orbital sander & sanding block
- Ability to prep areas for paint with minimal rework
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain techniques, time requirements and quality standards on a consistent on-going basis
- Ability to work with/around fiberglass, resins, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Perform all paint prep functions to include masking, sanding, cleaning, tracking, livery layout, maintenance marking application and detail
- Monitor and verify quality in accordance with industry standards
- Manage time and work flow through personal work area with direction
- Maintain a safe, organized, FOD-free work area with a focus on lean principles as instructed
- Work with or in the presence of hazardous chemicals, resins, and fiberglass as required (PPE provided as necessary)
- Perform other duties as assigned
