Job Description
Dakota Supply Group (DSG) is seeking a Mechanical Outside Sales Account Manager based out of our Plymouth, MN location.  This will be a full-time, salaried plus commissions position. This sales position will involve calling on existing customers as well as developing new accounts in within a 125 mile radius. Duties include the active promotion of DSG products and services to both contractors and industrial accounts, negotiating contracts and bids, resolving customer objections, and assuring customer satisfaction to build a strong business relationship.

Specific Duties of the Mechanical Outside Sales Account Manager:

  • Work with Inside Sales team members to identify, prioritize and implement initiatives that will improve customer satisfaction and territory growth
  • Establish, manage and maintain strong customer relationships and accounts by providing overall customer service including responding to customer questions and concerns
  • Seek and develop new customer opportunities and accounts
  • Introduce, promote and demonstrate new products and marketing programs
  • Correspond with branch manager and purchasing associates on changes in product demands
  • Act as a facilitator for customer ordering process, including: processing all types of customer orders, order corrections, responding to open order and back order inquiries, responding to customer requests for product returns, and suggesting changes for improving overall order process

Qualifications of the Mechanical Outside Sales Account Manager: 

  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multitask to effectively prioritize and manage workflow
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow-through/follow-up
  • General understanding of Mechanical software and programs to help customers with designs and rebates
  • General understanding of power distribution to help customers design switchgear projects
  • Familiarity of DSG Web Commerce and the ability to instruct customers on its uses
  • Excellent time management skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent, with secondary or post-secondary coursework concentrated in a related field, or equivalent on the job experience as determined by the company
  • Product and technical knowledge that would normally be acquired in two or more years of college or technical school and 3-5 years of field experience or equivalent training in residential/commercial [SEGMENT] applications
  • Strong sales skills, a proven track record of successful territory development with 3-5 years of selling experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
