3D Traffic Control Coordinator

This position requires the ability to work closely with the 3D Vice President or its designee, other 3D coordinators, administrative assistants and 3D estimators to coordinate 3D field crew personnel and jobs.  The 3D Coordinator will provide overall leadership direction to field crew personnel and a variety of jobs; including the management and procurement of materials, job quality and specifications, timeliness, safety, as well as mentoring and training field crew personnel.  This position requires the ability to meet company objectives as well as the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in a fast paced ever-changing environment; remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism, sense of urgency, ability to multi-task and confidentiality.  This position requires the aptitude to anticipate problems, critical issues and opportunities as they arise; along with the capability to creatively problem solve and bring together viable solutions.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as computer, are vital, with attention to detail equally important.    The 3D Coordinator is expected to manage personnel, foster a positive environment and motivate the Fargo team to be an efficient, productive, profitable and cohesive team.

Essential Functions:

Organization, flexibility, outstanding customer focus and strong communication are critical in performing duties which include, but are not limited to:

  • Contacting contractors / customers to schedule traffic control set-up, take downs and switches
  • Ensure materials are on hand, timely ordered / available and pulled for the job and accurately reflected in job cost data
  • Develop and maintain appropriate construction staffing and equipment resources, including material take-offs and ordering from plans, coordinating the job in a manner that maximizes the Company’s profitability, working with engineers to ensure that the units are accurate and match
  • Scheduling utility locates
  • Ensure construction transactions in computer systems are timely and accurate to meet the needs of percent complete accounting, including invoicing customers, work in process and collection of accounts receivable and retainage
  • Assist in handling contractor / customer service issues, including receiving calls on maintenance jobs after hours (this is an on-call position for 3D maintenance jobs, etc.)
  • Approve field personnel time cards on a daily basis
  • Train field personnel on how to correctly allocate time or any other time card issues
  • Work with estimators on change orders; overflow 3D estimating
  • Handle walk-in 3D rentals and retail sales; assisting in 3D inventory management, ordering and 3D yard management
  • Develop strong working relationships within the office and between other 3D branch locations
  • Promote a favorable image of 3D Specialties, internally and externally
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business or related field from an accredited college or 3+ years of directly related experience in traffic control, highway plan reading and specifications with a willingness to learn.  

Experience and Skills Required:

  1. Natural self-starter with initiative, high energy level, hands on approach and work ethic
  2. A multi-tasker with the organizational abilities to track multiple job start and completion dates, paperwork and reporting requirements
  3. Work with a high sense of urgency
  4. Strong technical, organization, and leadership skills
  5. Strong knowledge of ERP systems & computer networks
  6. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office with particular emphasis on Excel
  7. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and have good public relations skills
  8. A positive demeanor with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  9. Well organized and attention to detail
  10. Strong desire to bring a team together and holding employees accountable
  11. Willingness to learn and implement continuous improvement methodologies
