About Strategic Intelligence at DMI: Strategic Intelligence is the Insights function within the organization working closely with the lead of each business unit to develop intelligence to make business decisions.

Designed to seize dairys fair share of today and tomorrow faster, the Strategic Intelligence team works as a consultancy for DMI and the industry. The team was re-concepted out of the shared understanding that the market is changing at an unprecedented rate, and we need to be better equipped to navigate change as an industry. Our team centralizes intelligence and action for staff and industry. We make complex shifts and forces that impact U.S. dairy cultural, categorical, market, global, technological easy to navigate. We examine these shifts and forces tracking them over time. Through our deep understanding of these complex, rapidly evolving relationships, we streamline the process to action and evolution for the industry.

Our team is comprised of cross-functional change agents with deep expertise in industry, consumer, cultural, food service, eCommerce, market and technological intelligence. We designed a cross-functional team so that not only are our intelligence and methods stronger by considering how they impact all aspects of industry, but so that we can act faster by having the right people in the room. What we consider before commissioning a piece of intelligence: Is the business objective clearly defined? What decisions will be directly impacted by the Strategic Intelligence project? Who in the organization will the intelligence be shared with?

How we evaluate a quality piece of intelligence: Has it been done before? Is someone else working on something similar? If so, how do they fit together? Are the insights actionable? Did it tell us something we didnt know or elevate something we did know to action? Or does it get people to think differently?

Role and Responsibilities:
* Oversee Strategic Intelligence Department and Unified Marketing Plan (UMP) research pipeline
* Coalesce Strategic Intelligence Steering Committee and insights resources
* Oversee and drive research for annual planning for checkoff companies and the industry
* Review/oversee Strategic Intelligence branded deliverables
* Serves as the Global Insights and Innovation Executive Lead/Innovation Center Intelligence Lead
* Oversee signals system and intelligence system and deliverables for Transformation Teams/Innovation Center
* Lead in depth foresight research and transformation cycles, every 5-8 years
* Oversee idea ecosystem and white space strategy for innovation (with VP support)

Functional Skills:
* Understand and can commission Foresight Research
* Understand and can commission Cultural Intelligence
* Understand and can commission Market Research
* Understand and can commission Qual/Quant Experience
* Understand and can commission Innovation Strategy

Desired Background:
* Startup experience like Airbnb, Spot Hero, Grubhub or experience with a smaller nimble organization
* Part of an accelerator or incubator like 1871
* Part of a Future-forward company like Disney, Facebook, or a next gen media company like Buzzfeed
* Part of a foresight or innovation/disruption group at a major CPG company

Business Acumen:
* Has proven experience identifying insights opportunities across products, models, channels and marketing and building specific recommendations and go to market strategies.
* Experience building intelligence and insights deliverables into recommendations.
* Experience leading a multi-person team.
* Ability to work well across internal functional teams as well as outside resources.
* Able to analyze trend reports and consumer data to identify opportunities.
* Innate curiosity to understand the whys behind the data and the what ifs for the future

Leadership Skills:
* Trust - Can establish strong working relationship with all external and internal stakeholders
* Influence - Has passion, conviction and command of the facts to influence senior management and industry of potential opportunities and threats
* Ambiguity - Energized to shape ambiguous challenges into meaningful business propositions

Requirements

Requirements:

* Dairy experience is a plus but not a requirement.
* Prior role(s) with direct influence on Senior Leadership
* BA required.

Reporting Relationships: Position reports to Chief Transformation Officer

Travel: 15-25% travel working with partners mostly domestic but potential for some international.
