YOUR LIFE AS A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
This part-time position works rotating shifts that may include weekends, holidays, and 24-hour on-call shifts.
As an officer, you serve as a law enforcement specialist in your assigned field. This could include working as a patrol officer, corrections officer, crime prevention officer, instructor specialist, or detective, depending on your skills and our needs. You may spend your days responding to service calls, patrolling highways, investigating crimes, providing security, serving warrants, or making arrests. Regardless of your role, you also assist in necessary administrative duties.
You uphold your responsibility to keep your neighbors safe while enforcing the laws in our community. During the course of duty, you may encounter situations that put your safety at risk, and you may be required to make emergency decisions affecting the lives of others. You maintain integrity, calm, and decency at all times, working within the bounds of our laws to maintain a safe and healthy community. You find satisfaction in protecting and serving your neighbors in Daggett County.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) Academy
- LEO (law enforcement officer) or POST certification
- 2+ years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience OR an equivalent combination of the education and experience listed above
- Working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws
- Skill in the operation of motor vehicles at high speeds and in dangerous situations
- Skill in the use of airboats, ATVs, firearms, tasers, urinary analysis machines, ASPs, radios, restraints, and computers
- Ability to apply modern law enforcement principles
- 21+ years old
- Willingness to comply with our background check policy
- Valid driver's license
