Construction Specialist Are you an experienced Construction Specialist interested in making a difference in the Renewable Energy space? Look no further, our Strategic Capital Projects Team is hiring! This is a remote position with preference given to candidates located the Southeastern USA. The Construction Specialists prime responsibilities are to plan, organize, direct and control processes of daily work activities for projects and maintenance activities. This position carries primary responsibility for managing the construction and site development of new capital projects at designated wood pellet facility(s) and green field locations. As the Construction Specialist you will: * Coordinate the mobilization and de-mobilization of resources including employees, contractors and all project material. * Be a proactive construction safety leader, creating a "Safety First" culture at the building site(s). * Support the Drax safety culture and policies to implement remedies for a "no Loss" safety culture during the construction and commissioning phases. * Oversee risk assessment and risk mitigation measures on-site and before commencement of projects. * Undertake corrective and preventive measures to ensure a proper safety environment and health for the organization's project sites. * Coordinate plant construction activities with staff and start-up crew. * Complete the tracking of project milestones, construction processes and financial deadlines; maintaining the construction portion of the project schedule throughout the project. * Ensure that projects are completed within costing guidelines, using established standards for materials and labor costs. * Ensure that changes in requirements are communicated to the organization and incorporated into the project plan, bill of materials (BOM's) and other project documentation. * Maintain project documentation as per company guidelines, including documenting activities, such as service alerts and inspections, labor hours, expenses and materials used for each field site. * Manage the material/tool/equipment inventories, ensuring that what has been specified is received to meet project requirements and inventory on site is accounted for. * Ensure appropriate product quality throughout the project by confirming that all products are installed modified and/or repaired at client locations within established quality assurance and service guidelines. * Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of Drax systems and procedures at project start-up including, but not limited to: job site trailer/office set up and master filing system; assists with the setup of project billings and the cost accounting system; creates and maintains the project directory. * Assist with the review and processing of invoices and progress claims, and assistance with the review of documents and inquiries. * Manage the construction change order process by securing pricing, reviewing and inputting the data and submitting the change request for approval. * Prepare purchase requisitions for approval and assists with procurement of materials and equipment within corporate accounting systems. * Act as one of the primary spokespersons on assigned projects to represent the company scope, schedule, financial commitments and performance to clients. You have the following knowledge and abilities: * You hold a post-secondary education in construction management or engineering degree is preferred. * You have a minimum of 5 years industrial experience is required preferably in field projects, construction.
projects or production in a manufacturing environment is required. * Demonstrable experience managing construction of medium to large sized capital projects. * Familiarity with pellet plant construction and operations is beneficial. * Strong problem resolution and interpersonal skills, able to work across all functions. * Strong verbal and written communicator. * Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project or similar project software. * Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to work under minimum direction and coordinate multiple crafts simultaneously. Special Features: * Able to walk long distances over varying terrains at construction site. * Ability to travel to and from construction sites. * Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering documentation (specifications, drawings, installation instructions, etc.). * Ability to participate and complete all required Drax training. * Ability to pass client required drug testing and background checks. * Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently as needed.
