DNSFilter was born out of necessity. Our founders realized that the existing solutions for DNS security out there were clunky, convoluted and over priced. In 2015, they set out on a simple yet crucial missionto revolutionize DNS security. Weve come a long way since our humble beginnings. We support nearly 14,000 organizations, including Fortune 500 customers like NVIDIA, and provide service to millions of end users. Our infrastructure is made up of two anycast networks with over 300 servers in 53 datacenters. At the start of 2020, our software was processing 1B queries/day. One year later, were now processing 12B queries/day! In the middle of a global pandemic, our team (and product) thrived. We doubled the size of our team, and were looking to do it all over again in 2021.

We are a product-led company and this role is for a brand new team. There is a budget, but no expertise that exists today. We are looking for someone who is up to the challenge of effectively starting from the beginning - building a team, mentoring cross-functional teams and educating our Engineering department.

For the team, you will:

  • Lead, manage, mentor and grow an incredibly talented team of UX Designers
  • Lead and support a strong design culture, one that encourages collaboration, critique, and feedback ensuring products are aligned to company priorities and business needs
  • Create strong and collaborative partnerships with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and other internal customers

For the tech, you will:

  • Lead and maintain the DNSFilter brand standards, product style guide and pattern libraries
  • Understanding of the technical capabilities of HTML, XML, CSS, Responsive design, APIs etc.
  • Design and Implement a design framework that will become the company standard

For the vision & strategy, you will:

  • Work closely with the executive team, product management, project management, engineering, and marketing to help set a customer centric, product vision and strategy
  • Create DNSFilters design process and research process
  • Champion UX thinking, and evangelize UX across the organization
  • Stay on the forefront of emerging design trends, practices and tools

To be considered for this role, you have:

  • Background and demonstrated experience as a user experience designer or similar3+ years directly managing, mentoring and inspiring a team of people in UX-related roles
  • 3+ years directly managing, mentoring and inspiring a team of people in UX-related roles
  • Preferred (but not required) Bachelors degree in Digital Design, Multimedia, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or equivalent
  • Experience using qualitative and quantitative metrics to manage programs in order to drive revenue, conversion, sales and other marketing goals
  • Strong team leadership, people and project management, and organizational experience
  • Strong ability to lead iterative and collaborative design processes (whiteboard inspired)
  • Experience leading user research and testing initiatives
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively
  • A passion for solving the complex, with a fluency in information architecture
