Position Title: BAS Service Technician Specialist Position Location: Remote - work virtually from anywhere in the United States, ideally located in the Pacific Northwest – relocation opportunities are available Salary DLB recognizes salary ranges from job boards do not necessarily reflect our pay ranges. Job Summary The BAS Service Technician Specialist provides technical support and leadership to plan, schedule and execute preventative maintenance, emergency service and support, and implementation of building automation systems replacement / renovation projects in healthcare, industrial, commercial and mission critical / technology sectors. The BAS Service Technician Specialist will work with project managers, systems engineers, software technicians, construction contractors, equipment vendors and client staff to ensure proper operation, implementation, and acceptance of the BAS. The BAS Service Technician Specialist will receive limited direction on day-to-day work and general instruction on new projects or assignments. Will assist project leadership on automation projects of complex scope. Will work independently or under limited supervision. This person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives. Essential Functions BAS Small Project Implementation (30%) • Identify and execute on opportunities for BAS upgrades and improvements • Management of BAS upgrade projects involving internal and external stakeholders • Provide modifications to hardware, programming, integration, software version / license migrations, and graphical user interfaces • Perform testing, commissioning, complete checkout documentation and contribute to updates of as-built documentation • Provide BAS hardware demolition, installation and troubleshooting for retrofit BAS projects sometimes during night shift hours BAS Preventative Maintenance (30%) • Provide remote and on-site scheduled BAS technical reviews of system installation, performance, function, GUI, and alarms • Provide calibration verification using portable testing instrumentation BAS Emergency Service and Support (20%) • Respond to client emergency service calls including participation in 24/7 hotline pool • Troubleshoot BAS and mechanical systems using secure remote connectivity software tools and multiple BAS software platforms • Create and update service work tickets using company tools • Travel to client sites including coordinating with local vendors, system integrators, and contractors • Document activities in detail and provide frequent client communication Reporting (20%) • Develop service reports for internal and external stakeholders • Manages personal hours using company tools Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned Requirements Position Requirements (Intermediate level for all the following) • Knowledge of IoT or smart building solutions • Knowledge of integration of open-source protocols via Ethernet and serial communication buses (BACnet, Modbus and SNMP) • Knowledge of networking used in BAS systems including interfacing with client IT resources • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management • Skilled in at least one of the following BAS software platforms: Tridium Niagara, Honeywell WEBs, Distech Controls, Automated Logic, Delta Controls, or Reliable Controls • Skilled in Startup and troubleshooting of BAS systems in data center / critical environments • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail • Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information) • Ability to communicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines • Ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others • Ability to achieve certification for NFPA70E and / or OSHA training as / if required • Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Physical Demands The following physical demands must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
