The team brings to bear deep industry expertise, serving as trusted advisors to develop customized communications strategies that enable clients to promote and protect brands and corporate reputation, maximize valuation, operate competitively, and seize timely market opportunities. The team supports clients across the healthcare vertical - from health and hospital systems, pharmaceutical companies and biotech, device and industry associations, as well as PE/VC and hedge funds focused on the health space.

The Sr. Account Supervisor of Financial Communications - Healthcare's primary responsibilities will be to lead accounts, teams and projects for healthcare clients. Ideally, the right candidate will also possess and understanding of and/or work in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, life science, payor/provider and/or medical device space. Corporate, finance, business development, buy-side or sell-side or investor relations experience is preferable. 

  • Lead accounts and assignments, effectively drawing from relevant Edelman teams and resources to deliver best-in-class service 
  • Lead and/or contribute to pitches and new business efforts focused on FinComms opportunities and collaborate with Edelman colleagues on integrated, cross-practice assignments 
  • Lead FinComm marketing and prospecting efforts to identify both organic and new business opportunities, including developing and/or supporting the development of thought leadership and IP 
  • Serve as relationship lead and/or support rapport-building efforts for C-suite executives, as well as clients who manage communications and marketing functions 
  • Ensure account teams are proactive and highly responsive to client needs, anticipating upcoming deliverables and ensuring proper execution 
  • Ensure junior staff is trained, supportive of team efforts and paying sufficient attention to detail 
  • Collaborate with Edelman FinComm colleagues in the US and globally to further develop and grow the global practice and offering 
  • Build awareness of Edelman FinComm with potential referral sources across industries/sectors 

Basic Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree is required 

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in strategic and financial communications with a healthcare focus (corporate, business development, buy-/sell-side experience, IR experience, preferably with some agency experience) 

  • Deep understanding of how companies can more effectively communicate to their financial audiences 

  • Strong comfort level in providing communications counsel 

  • Ability to travel as needed  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with high-intensity corporate assignments 

  • Experience and facility in new business development and marketing, and creating new offerings for clients 

  • Track record of training talent 

  • Strong writing, presentation and analytical skills 

  • Organized, proactive and self-motivated; anticipate upcoming client projects and deliverables 

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills 

  • Innate desire to provide excellent service to clients 

  • Investor relations experience 

  • Media relations experience
