DCG Communications (DCG) is seeking a well-rounded, organized, thorough and proactive Social Media Specialist responsible for supporting the development and execution of the clients social media strategy to drive engagement and build awareness. The Social Media Specialist will work closely with the client team to continuously improve the thinking, direction of the strategy, and recommended social media programs and tactics. In this role, youll draft, design, and disseminate messages to target audiences of the Department of Homeland Securitys (DHS) Office of Public Affairs (OPA) such as news media, organizations and the general public seeking information about Department's programs, policies, procedures, statistics, and services. The Department uses social media make information and services more widely available via Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Location:At DCG the majority of our team members, including this role are remote. With over 100 employees based in 20 states (and counting!), DCG is committed to hiring talented employees across the United States. The selected candidate will work during DCGs core Eastern Standard Time business hours.

Position Requirements:

  • A bachelors degree and a minimum of five(5)yearsofrelevant professional experiencesupporting communications and social mediacampaigns, preferably at a public relations firm/agency

  • Must qualify for Federal Government Public Trust Clearance

  • Experience developing and executing social media strategy preferably with Federal, State or Local Government, or a private sector public relations/communications agency

  • Demonstrated track record of developing and executing creative, engaging, and successful social media advocacy programs for clients

  • Experience in client relations, including having the ability to understand and assess a clients communication needs and meet those needs through successful social programs

  • Proven ability to create and execute social media on behalf of a client with an in depth understanding of the clients tone, engagement, and demographic/geographic reach

  • Adept in developing social media strategies and analysis

  • Proven ability to adapt outreach to build engagement with targeted audience through various mediums and social media channels

  • Exceptional verbal, written communication, and presentation skills

  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and client management skills

  • Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Veteran Affairs, or working in the military and/or veteran ecosystem is a plus
