Financial Analyst

The Financial Analyst will work with the finance and accounting team to provide timely and accurate financial reports and to contribute key business and financial insights, analysis, and actionable data to our internal departments. The Financial Analyst will primarily support our Sales and Marketing departments but may be asked to assist with other related matters as needed.
This person will be responsible for providing information and insights that drive key business decisions, profitable growth, and goal achievement. The Financial Analyst will assist the FP&A Director and FP&A Associate Manager with the annual budgeting process, forecast updates, monthly reporting and variance analysis across various dimensions e.g. time period, geography, department, channel, product, etc.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development of annual budgets and updated forecasts for Sales and Marketing departments.
- Work directly with department leaders to obtain the information necessary for budgeting, forecasting, and developing financial models.
- Work closely with Sales Operations to align sales with financial objectives.
- Assist with monthly financial reporting and analysis; identify key metrics to help department owners understand drivers behind their financial results.
- Proactively monitor results by department, perform detailed budget vs actual variance analysis, and assist with communicating results to budget owners.
- Compile, organize and analyze complex financial information and raw data.
- Utilize financial system information to assist with the design and development of financial reports and data visualization tools.
- Distribute daily executive reporting to senior leadership and owners; work with Sales Operations to understand timing of sale invoices and trade distribution.
- Maintain daily automated sales reporting and weekly marketing reporting; assist with reporting changes as needed.
- Deliver monthly financial reporting and analysis for Sales and Marketing departments.
- Perform monthly mix assessment to identify gross profit drivers associated with channel mix, product mix and pricing; communicate opportunities that drive profitable growth.
- Responsible for monthly distribution of travel and entertainment (T&E) expense summaries, including analysis of key drivers versus budget.
- Perform ad hoc analytical projects as assigned.
Requirements
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting or mathematics strongly preferred.
- 2-5 years' experience in a relevant position preferred; experience in Wine Industry or other CPG.
- Strong Excel skills required.
- Experience using BI reporting or budget software a plus.
- Can clearly articulate business issues; is comfortable with back of the envelope analysis in support of timely decisions.
- Is capable of modeling budgets and forecasts by month based on discussions with budget owners.
- Ability to research sources of variances vs budget and summarize findings clearly and concisely to effectively drive decision making.
- Remote option available.

Working conditions
- Regular working schedule to include weekdays.
- Hybrid position and will require onsite support in our San Luis Obispo office 1-2 days per week.
- Sitting for long periods of time (8 hours per day).

Compensation for this role is $75,000-$85,000/yr.
