What You Will Be Doing
This position is heavily involved in many, broad ranging, national level projects up to award, and at times post award. You will have constant interaction with the customer & fellow employees.

You will be required to:
Review inquiry packages
Estimate the work
Write subcontractor RFQs
Review proposals & pricing from subcontractors & vendors
Works closely with the construction groups & seek input from all departments to develop the final proposal in order to secure work for the company.
Formally responsible for making recommendations regarding policies associated with the job's purpose & essential responsibilities.
Decide if the inquiry package contains sufficient information to develop an accurate estimate for the clients requested contract type.
For estimating purposes, work with construction group to develop the staff & craft manpower levels required to support the project's schedule & duration.
Quantify/estimate any materials, equipment & 3rd party equipment which needs to be included.
Recommend if we should direct hire a certain craft or subcontract the work.
Work with the Operations Manager & construction group to decide on the final margins to secure the work.
Customer interaction - includes sales, follow up and keeping in touch with clients.
Keep the in-house customer tracking system up to date.
Inquiry package review.
Attend pre-bid meetings.
Prepare & forward Subcontractor Inquiry Packages for pricing.
Distribute pertinent sections of Inquiry Package to the appropriate in-house departments for review and comment.
Prepare detailed man-hour & cost estimates.
Conduct estimate review meeting with Pre-Construction Manager.
Become familiar with Scope & Develop a Clarification list.
Review the proposed contract & discuss with Pre-Construction Manager.
Compile deliverables from other departments & prepare Quote Book.
Write proposal & fill out all customer required documents.
Submit proposal & follow to award.
Attend post bid review meetings & help negotiate the final contract.
Once an order is given, take out a job number & complete in-house documents & conduct a job kick-off/turnover meeting.
What You Need for this Position
-- 4 year B.S. Engineering or Construction Management degree or an equivalent combination of technical training & experience preferred. --

Amount of travel required - 15%

More Than 5 Years of experience and knowledge of:

- Exceptional communication, presentation & negotiating skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills necessary to meet critical deadlines & to analyze financial data from jobs in process.
- Ability to read & understand construction related drawings.
- Ability to estimate multi-craft work.
- Ability to read contract T & C's & recommend exceptions & clarifications.
- Accurate & timely estimates, as well as Level 2 project schedules.
- Solid computer skills to work with bid documents, create spreadsheets & our proposals & supply the customer with written documentation as needed.
- Strong knowledge of working on a construction site observing craft labor performing field work.
- Strong knowledge of working in industrial environments & the associated safety standards.
- An understanding of welding, rigging & other operations.
- Working knowledge & solid understanding of individual cost items that make up the total price of a project
- An understanding of the methods & techniques used by the various crafts to field erect materials & repair existing equipment.
- An understanding of the various types of contracting strategies we encounter & how best to approach them.
- Strong understanding of other departments' roles & responsibilities within a construction organization.
- Ability to communicate successfully with our clients (in person, over the phone & in writing).
- Familiar with estimating software.
- Ability & willingness to keep up with changes in construction estimating techniques & tools
