A Senior Consultant I (Release Train Engineer) is accountable for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of value through the program. He/She is a is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART). The RTEs major responsibilities are to facilitate the ART events and processes and assist the teams in delivering value. RTEs communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement.

What You Will Be Doing
Working with the (Agile Release Trian) team who prioritizes the features to be considered in the next program increment (PI) planning cycle
Facilitates the ART teams refinement of features to be considered in the next PI planning cycle to meet the Feature Definition of Ready
Assists the ART in communication and coordination with stakeholders and customers during feature definition and delivery
Ensures effective communication and coordination for and during quarterly planning
Manages change to the ARTs PI plan and the impacts of those changes
Drive cross team, ART, and departmental impediments, planning, collaboration, and coordination
Provides regular and open communication across the program and stakeholders for transparency and awareness of progress and impediments
Understands, visualizes, and manages upstream/downstream dependencies
Drives delivery and continuous improvement by utilizing feedback and metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc) to identify areas of opportunity
Ensures the overall cost, schedule, and performance of the program
Analyzes program budgets and estimates from participating organizations to provide direction for the overall development of all program budgets and integrated cost profiles
Manages program level coordination, such as creating timelines, milestones, and cadence of increments and releases, and oversees the development of reports and analyses that document program activity
Leads project teams and provides leadership; acts as a consultant/coach to management in resolving unusually difficult problems
Participates with management and cross-functional teams as subject matter expert to develop and improve operating policies and procedures related to Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and be an advocate in adopting Agile and SAFe best practices and processes
Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
Supports the configuration of SAFe to the needs of the organization, standardizing and documenting practices
What You Need for this Position
3-5 yrs experience working directly with the SAFe framework
7+ years of IT Project Management
Experience implementing SAFe and leading SAFe training
Organizational Change Management experience in a leadership role
Bachelors degree in relevant field

Required Technical Knowledge:

Demonstrated Release Train Engineer experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from conception through implementation
Experience coordinating multiple teams in a technology environment
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing and explaining technical and project related information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff
Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification or equivalent
Certified Scrum Professional (CSP) certification or equivalent is highly preferred
SAFe Program Consultant (SPC4) certification or equivalent is preferred
SAFe Certified Release Train Engineer certification or equivalent is preferred
ICAgile Professional Certification in Agile Team Facilitation (ICP-AFT) or equivalent is a plus
Project Management Institute Agile Certified Professional or equivalent is a plus
Skills and Abilities:

Ability to easily build new relationships and proactively establish a variety of contacts across the organization
Ability to work in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural teams
Broad range of program management and leadership skills required
Strong knowledge and experience in software development in an Agile environment
Experience working with clients and business partners
You have the ability and desire to work with a team of people solving complex problems that often require independent research with minimal supervision
You have excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
Customer service oriented
Advanced document management skills
High level of oral, written and computer software communication skills
Efficient and able to prioritize tasks
Self-starter, proactive
Ability to work according to tight deadlines and under pressure

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has training responsibilities. Sr. Consultants are responsible for training and development of team members assigned to projects they are supporting or managing
Sr. Consultants will assist VPs in identifying ways to expand in current clients as well as assist in developing new business leads as opportunities present themselves
Consultants may be asked to perform additional assignments and responsibilities as assumed or requested by management
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Sr. Consultants work a standard work week but may be required to work evenings and weekends to monitor program activities and participate in cutovers or other project efforts. With the continued impact of Cover-19 and social distancing measures, we fully support remote work until COVID-19 mandates are lifted.


Travel is primarily at clients site during the business day, however up to 50% out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected depending on the project/client needs.
