Supervisor: Tasting Room Manager

FLSA Status (Classification): Non-Exempt – Hourly
The Tour Guide is responsible for providing memorable experiences to visitors of Cutwater Spirits. They provide an educational and engaging tour of the facility including a review of the history of Cutwater, the distilling process, a review of our products, and a tasting of certain products (when necessary). The Tour Guide is also responsible for providing customer service within our retail shop. This includes answering questions, checking out guests and maintaining the stock levels within the retail shop.
This position works under the direction of the Tasting Room General Manager.
Daily Duties, Functions, Responsibilities:
· Describe points of interest around the facility and answer any questions, which requires learning the history of Cutwater Spirits and having detailed product knowledge.
· Monitor the behavior of the group, especially when young children are in it, and ensure everyone remains safe and engaged.
· Answer questions for visitors on the Tasting Room and Kitchen, Distillery, our products, booking events, etc.
· Provide an educational and entertaining tour experience that not only engages customers but creates fans of our brand.
· Be willing to put own spin (such as making jokes, insightful commentary, story-telling) on the tour to ensure it is entertaining while informative.
· Manage tour reservations though the reservation software and make any necessary accommodations for the group
· Increase Tasting Room revenue by selling retail alcohol to-go and store merchandise
· Follow all safety guidelines in place and include those protocols in the tour
· Stay up-to-date with what is happening in the facility such as distilling rum, running the canning line, working on a new product, etc.
· Execute responsible alcohol serving practices
· Work with management to share feedback from visitors on additional tour highlights, requested merchandise, and/or tasting room and kitchen feedback.
· Embraces and fulfills the core values and culture of Cutwater Spirits.
· Provides support to Tasting Room team during downtime and busy periods.
· Other duties as assigned.
Physical Conditions
• Work takes place in crowded, hot, occasionally humid, and loud environment for long periods.
• Requires routine lifting of 25 pounds. Occasional lifting of 50 pounds.
• Conducts most work in a standing position interacting with Customers.
• Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping and lifting.
• Requires frequent operation of computer systems (POS).
• Requires the ability to manipulate large quantities of food, dishware, with hands.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Great public speaking skills.
• Outgoing and engaging personality.
• Punctual.
• Ability to manage responsibilities in a high-demand, fast-paced working environment.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
• Have a passion for Cutwater Spirits, the Distillation Process and Telling Stories.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior restaurant experience (preferred).
• Prior retail experience (preferred).
