Job Description

Atlas Research, a CVP Company, assists federal civilian agencies with the implementation of large-scale business transformation initiatives. We are looking for a Communications Consultant to support the communications workstream for our VA client. The ideal candidate will have experience working with or for federal agencies as a management consultant to implement high visibility and/or enterprise-level communications, projects, programs, and initiatives. The Communications Consultant works closely with and supports federal agency clients in the implementation of major organizational transformation initiatives and in the execution of the organizational communications strategy. The federal agencies have a wide range of stakeholder groups with varying priorities, interests, and needs. Communications is a key function to build awareness, understanding, confidence and support for program initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain quarterly strategic communication editorial calendar Identify key inflection points (ex: Cybersecurity Career Awareness Week), observance holidays (ex: Veterans Day, Hispanic Heritage Month), and events (ex: virtual hiring events, President’s Cup, etc.)
  • Develop copy and graphics (collaborating with External Affairs’ graphics team) for Clearance Jobs and DICE’s FY22 marketing assets including newsletter ads, homepage ads, targeted social media, sponsored emails, Employer of the Week tweets, and more.
  • Develop monthly communications guidance for External Affairs including draft copy of federal website content and social media posts for client's own platforms.
  • Facilitate interviews with key leadership for Clearance Jobs (CJ) and DICE video, article, and podcast interviews (as outlined in annual contract with CJ/DICE).
  • Provide staff support as needed by participating as a recruitment representative for virtual hiring events.
  • Develop monthly or bi-monthly long form blog posts for CISA.gov surrounding recruitment focused inflection points or holidays (ex: National Intern Day, Women in Tech).
  • Provide copywriting and editing support as needed for Talent Management Division webinar talk tracks, one-pagers and marketing material for specific recruitment programs (ex: Student
  • Programs, Veterans Program), TMD Share Point site content, staff bios, leadership messages, leadership talking points, virtual hiring event booth content, VISION articles, position descriptions, job announcement promotions, and more.
  • Develop communications, including press releases, blogs, talking points, website copy, video scripts, etc.
  • Ensure quality service, deliverables, and results
  • Manage key stakeholders and develop engagement plans
  • Measure the success of communications strategies and tactics using analytics
  • Support the development of innovative approaches and ideas to deliver communications solutions to clients
  • Create intellectual capital, support business development initiatives, and participate in business development activities including whitepapers, proposals, and capability briefings

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public affairs, or other closely related field required
  • 6+ years of experience in federal and/or private strategic communications management consulting
  • Knowledge of strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and public relations best practices and core principles
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the planning and execution of a complex external communications plan for federal and/or private clients
  • Experience leveraging various communications channels to deliver client messaging to federal and/or public audiences
  • Experience developing talking points, writing speeches, and crafting blogs/social media posts for senior executive level clients
  • Excellent proficiency in copyediting, proofreading, and common publishing platforms as well as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and in large delivery teams, prioritize workload to meet demands, and be well organized and proactive
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team environment with quick turnaround times
  • Ability to get up to speed quickly on complex issues, multi-task while maintaining high attention to detail, and be willing and able to roll up sleeves and get work of all types done
  • Comfortable responding to and managing inquiries/topics that are sometimes sensitive in nature with the highest professionalism
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment
  • Strong proficiency with MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent deck-building/PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to work in the US without sponsorship indefinitely
  • Ability to obtain a US security clearance if needed

Desired Skills

  • Master’s degree in communications- or marketing-related field from an accredited college or university
  • Experience working with federal government entities
