Senior Data Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who is experienced, passionate, and driven to join our highly skilled and diverse engineering team. The candidate must be interested in building and continuously improving performant data pipelines. The candidate will be responsible for owning, architecting, building, and maintaining data pipelines, infrastructure, and applications to collect, track and monitor various data formats to enable data-driven decisions and growth. This role will also coordinate and collaborate with the teams responsible for other layers of the product.

Responsibilities

• Own the existing data pipelines and processes and continue working towards operational excellence.
• Make existing data usable and informative for the enterprise and help make data more accessible for analysis.
• Confirm and enhance the trust in the data that we have and put in place proper safeguards to ensure data reliability.
• Work together with the Analytics team to optimize performance and uncover hidden insights.
• Improve upon our data workflows and processes.
• Work with Product Management and other stakeholders (Backend, UX, etc.) to iterate on new features.
• Mentor and train junior developers on the team.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience and proficiency with Python, specifically with data manipulation.
• 2+ years of experience with the use of various AWS data services.
• Advanced SQL knowledge.
• Experience with RedShift or PostgreSQL.
• Excellent and efficient communication skills.
• Team player who proactively shares successes and failures.
• Ability to rapidly learn and take advantage of new concepts and technologies.
• Highly attentive to detail and performance-oriented.
• Comfortable using git and GitHub

Would be a plus

• Experience with Airbyte, AWS Glue, Snowplow, Elasticsearch, DBT.
• Experience with product-focused data such as clickstream data, subscriptions and product usage.
• Experience with big data processing frameworks.
• Experience with Looker.
• ML experience with data streams.
• Experience with near-real-time data streaming applications.
• Theoretical mathematical understanding would be a plus where this individual can take concepts and turn them into equations and vice versa for theoretical explanation and optimization.
• History in Database Administration.
• Prior experience delivering results on a Data Lake project.
• Knowledge of implementing Data Quality monitoring and alerting systems.
