This is a role that requires a multi-disciplinary team approach to solving problems and patient challenges. We frown upon elitists who often use the phrase "that's not my job" or "someone else can do it". The primary goal is to bring the best patient care and experience for our area's sickest children, not about feeding anyone's ego.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITY and EXPECTATIONS:
- Maintaining a high level of professionalism on the job and projecting this professionalism to the Board, all team members (employed and volunteers), parents/patients, partners and stakeholders at all times.
- Creating and maintaining good working relationships with organizational leaders and team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a) Collect, code, and enter all services performed including hospital charges
b) Cross reference drugs administered from nurse notes to pharmacy log
c) Prepare and submit clean claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper
d) Ensure accurate submission of claims
e) Process billing for medications dispensed through our third party pharmacy
f) Respond to department requests for information, assistance, and corrections
g) Interact with physicians and nurses to obtain information to accurately bill for services
h) Meet mid-month and month-end deadlines
i) Maintain current expertise of coding, contracts, rules and requirements
j) Participate in educational activities and team huddles; attend monthly staff meetings
k) Submit KPI/monthly reports as directed by supervisor
l) Maintain strictest confidentiality; adhere to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
m) Perform other duties as directed
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate’s Degree preferred, but a high school diploma or GED required, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications (including, but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook). This role requires extensive computer use. General knowledge of internet navigation and research, e-mail, fax transmission, copy equipment, and medical billing are essential. Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
