Job Description


High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent (preferred). 3+ years of experience working as a bartender required, mixology certification strongly preferred. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.   Strong knowledge of computer and mobile device software applications, including P.O.S., and skills in applying them. Must be legally qualified in the State of Alabama to pour and serve alcoholic beverages. Possess a valid driver’s license.  Must meet Park Board employment and physical standards, which includes a background check as well as drug and alcohol screening. Experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to perform the defined duties.

  • Ensures bar space follows all licensing requirements and health and safety guidelines.
  • Create bartender and server schedules.
  • Mix drinks, pour and serve wine, beer, and other beverages.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise new bar staff.
  • Serves as a leader to the food and beverage staff, providing support and direction when needed.
  • Manages the front of house operations and staff ensuring excellent customer experience.
  • Assists in preparing dining banquet for service and parties, including the foodservice line set-up and/or breakdown.
  • Maintains a clean workstation during the shift, washes dishes, and ensures the bar is clean, stocked, and ready for reopening at the end of the shift.
  • Helps maintain system-wide inventory related to assigned facilities and assists with ordering and/or facilitates ordering process for beverage supplies and related consumables, as needed.
  • Assists with stocking, restocking, and organizing bar supplies and related consumables, maintaining a First In First Out (FIFO) rotation of stock.
  • Handles customer inquiries and/or complaints in a professional, expedient manner with an end goal focus on customer delight.

    • Stand and work for extended periods
    • Cross-train as Food & Beverage Service Staff and fill in as needed
    • Help in other areas as needed
  • Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation staff, embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the CPRST Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics working amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel, and Community.
  • Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication.
  • Works hours vary, which will likely include nights and weekends, with hours varying based on time of year, events, and projects.
  • Attends all meetings as requested by supervisors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.


The work area is well lighted, ventilated, and heated. Occasionally work is outdoors where there is a potential to be exposed to various weather conditions.


Work is performed both inside and outside and requires the physical and mental ability to operate a motor vehicle, commercial kitchen appliances, and computer. Work also requires working around heights, heavy lifting, and the ability to climb, stand, bend, and sit while performing various job duties.  Must be able to routinely lift and carry fifty pounds of weight without assistance.
