Job Description

Crown Staffing is searching for a Charge Nurse in the Indianapolis area!

* Night Shift

*Rotating Schedule

* $75 / Hour

* 13 Week Contract

 

Job Summary:

The Charge Nurse is a registered nurse who works in coordination with nursing leadership. The Charge Nurse is the first line of support for staff, physicians and other related providers on clinical issues and provides assessment, prioritization and direction of activities to meet the challenging demands of the hospital.

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of accredited registered nurse program with current licensure in the state, BSN preferred
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support required
  • Certified Rehabilitation Nurse (CRRN) preferred
  • Minimum of two years experience in rehabilitative or acute care setting and / or demonstrates leadership abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective oral and written communication skills, in English with additional languages preferred; proficiency in basic computer skills required

Essential Functions:

  • Completes routine audits to assure accurate and timely documentation in EPIC and UDS in order to meet compliance standards
  • Assists the Nurse Manager in annual evaluations by providing feedback on clinical performance
  • Identifies educational opportunities for the nursing staffing based on clinical needs identified and verbalized by nursing staff
  • Educates and monitors all staff regarding accurate and complete QI documentation to capture accurate burden of care
  • Assists in QI education for licensed nursing staff
  • Acts as key player in daily huddle to communicate / identify patient status
  • Acts as a clinical resource and mentor for nurses in caring for all types of patients in the facility
  • Assists nursing staff with patient / family teaching needs. Coordinates educational resources to help decrease readmissions to acute care hospital within 30 days of discharge
  • Provides UDS documentation / orientation training for all new licensed nursing personnel
  • Conducts scheduled remediation sessions for nursing staff with identified documentation deficiencies 
  • Participates in Continuous Quality and Performance Improvement (CQPI)
  • Ensures the nursing department staff performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety
  • Assures and assists with nursing participation in interdisciplinary team conferences
  • Assists in making nursing staff assignments, based on patient acuity, competency of staff, and hospital census
  • Adheres to staffing matrix
  • Performs timely and accurate EPIC / QI assessments
  • May need to take a partials or full assignment based on staffing availability / needs
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and / or employee information to assure patient and / or employee rights are protected
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served
  • Reports to work on time as scheduled; adheres to policies regarding notification of absence
  • Attends all mandatory in-services and staff meetings
  • Represents the organization in a positive and profession manner
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
  • Communicated the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital
  • Maintains current licensure / certification for position, if applicable
  • Consistently demonstrates customer service skills to patients, physicians, visitors, employees, and any other individuals with whom they may come in contact
  • Consistently follows departmental and hospital Health, Safety, Security, Hazardous Materials policies and procedures
  • HIPAA: Conduct job responsibilities in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws, follow hospital policy in provision of patient confidentiality. Able to identify patient confidentiality issues and reports to proper hospital personnel immediately

 

Skills:

  • Knowledge of equipment utilized in evaluation and treatment
  • Must be able to determine appropriate patient procedures and evaluate results
  • Ability to maintain control and respond calmly and positively during emergent situations
  • Appropriate telephone communication skills

Physical and Safety Requirements:

  • Good general health and stress coping ability. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Normal walking, standing, sitting, bending, carrying of items such as books and papers and computer related work. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with all constituents (patients, families, peers, and other healthcare team members) as needed for leadership, assessment, intervention, and professional development
