The Behavioral Health Therapist will work at one or more assigned employer sites within on-site health and wellness centers. He/she will serve as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team for the purpose of optimizing whole-person health and wellness. The incumbent will counsel individuals, couples, families, and groups; and provide behavioral health consultation within the health center and to the assigned Crossover client organization.
In these settings, it is important that the successful candidate have training and experience in collaborating with allied health professionals to facilitate and support health behavior change, and also have experience and training in employer settings, including presenting psycho-educational programs, promoting services, consulting to the organization, and leading critical incident debriefing sessions.
Behavioral Health Therapist use a variety of assessment and intervention techniques to address mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, addiction and substance abuse, suicidal impulses, stress, trauma, low self-esteem, and grief. In addition they work with psychosocial issues such as relationship communication problems, change and transition, stage of life challenges, and job problems.
It is important that the Behavioral Health Therapist understand the HIPAA requirements for mental health records and substance abuse records, and maintain appropriate documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards. On occasion, the Behavioral Health Therapist will encounter and manage crisis situations, including suicidal and threatening behavior and ideation, and other urgent and emergent circumstances, and will handle those competently, including assessing and coordinating other services. Also occasionally, as a mandated reporter, the Behavioral Health Therapist will be obligated to make suspected child or elder abuse reports, and will discharge duty to warn, and if necessary, participate in arranging safety involuntary holds (Code 5150) in the case of threats of harm to self or others, and will use good clinical judgment, including seeking consultation from senior clinical staff as appropriate in complex or challenging situations.
To maximize favorable clinical outcomes while minimizing medical costs, as part of Crossover’s Continuous Improvement and Population Health Improvement efforts, the Behavioral Health Therapist will review clinical data and make recommendations for programmatic changes, acquisition of clinical tools, and opportunities for collaboration and innovation, as part of the client organization’s clinical team, as well as within Crossover’s Behavioral Health guild.
The Behavioral Health Therapist performs case management when service needs (such as higher level of care) exceed the scope of practice of the Health and Wellness Center.
Clinical Psychologist (PhD or PsyD) or LMFT
Proficient in evidence based treatments (i.e. CBT, ACT and DBT)
Minimum five years related clinical experience serving patients across the mental health, family relationships, addiction and recovery, and work related spectrum.
Ability to inspire respect, trust, and confidence.
Must follow code of ethics associated with licensing body of their respective certification.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; including expertise with presentation skills.
Ability to establish therapeutic alliances and rapport required to work with a diverse patient population
Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures while still working within the collaborative team framework.
Proficient computer and technology skills
Current, unencumbered licensure
Must have attended an APA accredited program
