Job Title: Construction Superintendent
Job Location: Great Falls, SC
Crofton Industries is a full-service Marine Construction and Commercial Diving Contractor that has been in business since 1949. We are seeking an experienced on site Superintendent. Candidate must be reliable, knowledgeable, and highly motivated to join our team in our Portsmouth, Virginia office.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for coordinating on site construction activities and supervising all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. This includes understanding the project plans and specifications, working with upper management to ensure the project is completed in an acceptable manner, controlling costs, planning upcoming work, determining crew sizes and managing them effectively, and ensuring the project is constructed safely. Responsible for all aspects of the job from start up to close out.
Coordinates and supervises all construction activities.
Manages field personnel in order to complete the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to the project plans and specifications.
Interviews and trains employees as necessary.
Conducts weekly safety and schedule meetings with the crew and or owner.
Determine work priorities based project schedule and schedules and coordinate with the appropriate parties.
Maintain construction schedule, identify and solve problems.
Order materials and schedule inspections as necessary throughout the project.
Develop and document a Project Work plan from the project plans and specifications which identifies project specific hold points and milestones.
Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
Prepare, schedule and supervise completion of a final punch list.
Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices and rectify job site hazards.
Ensure employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy.
Maintain an organized job site, including the construction office.
Collaborate with administrators on the supervision of all work operations
Understand budget and track costs
Perform Site Layout
Exercise control over rate of construction progress in order to complete construction project within time limits; schedule jobs and operations
Act as an adviser on job related problems.
Estimate materials needed for specific jobs; estimate manpower needed for specific jobs
Coordinate ordering and delivery of all project related materials.
Deal with individuals requesting information or service, such as agencies, department heads or others
Strong Knowledge of all phases of Heavy Marine Construction, including work commonly done by other trades.
Strong organizational skills.
Fluent knowledge in general computer operation and software to include Microsoft Office Suite, and MS Project.
Displays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effective listening skills.
Analyzes problems and makes sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risks, implications and costs.
Tactful and mature demeanor with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with diverse personalities.
Ability to read blueprints and specifications for construction.
10 years work experience in marine construction environment as a supervisor
5 years experience with a Bachelors in Construction Management, engineering, or similar
