Job Description

 

SUMMARY

Responsible for the development and improvement of tooling to increase efficiency and quality of operations.  Provides the overall tooling design and suggested measures for improvement of manufacturing, thereby increasing productivity, customer satisfaction and profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

               

  • Performs research, design, and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, production equipment and environmental impact

  • Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.

  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.

  • Works with equipment designers and manufacturing to develop cost-effective and working tooling for new products.

  • Oversees process design projects to make sure that tooling is completed on time.

  • Follows all safety and personal protective equipment requirements while maintaining a clean work environment.

  • Interfaces with suppliers, customers and other necessary personnel.

  • Support IATF16949 initiatives.

  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

*Associates Degree in Engineering or a minimum of two years related experience and/or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to write reports and business correspondence; ability to effectively read and interpret blue prints;

ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, groups of associates,

management representatives, suppliers and customers. Ability to utilize computerized word processing and

e-mail systems in the day-to-day functions of the job. 

Reasoning Ability:

Requires analytical and problem solving knowledge, ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear.  The associate is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The associate must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. 

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.  Exposure to extreme heat or cold may be encountered.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. 

Work will typically be from eight to ten hours per day, five days a week, with occasional travel, by car or commercial aircraft, for external meetings with customers.
