Qualifications

  • 2A Hoisting License
  • Minimum of five years' experience in utility work
  • DOT Medical Examiners Certificate
  • Valid Drivers License with Clean Driving Record
  • OSHA 10 Certification (OSHA 30 Preferred)
  • Commercial Drivers License Class B (Class A preferred)

Full Job Description

Cranney Home Services is expanding their team and looking to add an experienced heavy equipment operator to the water and sewer team. This position will also act as on-site job foreman supervising a small crew of laborers. List of duties associated with the job:

  • Carry out daily inspections, greasing, fueling and safe machine operation duties.
  • Set up machinery and ensure all ground conditions are safe prior to any digging.
  • Equipment operation includes but is not limited to excavators, backhoes, and skid steers.
  • Observe proper loading and unloading of equipment on trailers.
  • Assist laborers
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace (includes interior of machines and vehicles)
  • Follow OSHA regulations and create safe workspace
  • Complete daily equipment inspection reports for any/all equipment and immediately report any defects of the equipment to the manager.
  • Complete all utility projects in a safe and efficient manner
  • Work directly with town inspectors to ensure all permitted work is signed off on.
  • Excavate trenches, lay pipe of all types, unloading of materials, backfilling trenches with compaction tools.
  • Lift and use trench boxes and hydraulic shoring

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Working with homeowners in a polite and professional manner
  • Knowledge of excavation procedures and techniques specifically water and sewer
  • Ability to follow instructions and read excavation plans
  • Possess excellent mechanical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to complete physically demanding work
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
  • Able to kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward spaces to complete job-related tasks
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods of time in unpredictable and unfavorable weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with other team members on site.
