The Crane Business System Manager is responsible for the administration and oversight of continuous improvement activities and driving operational excellence throughout all areas of the organization. He or she will coach, lead, facilitate, and mentor associates in continuous improvement activities, utilizing CBS tools to identify opportunities, driving to root cause, and systematically improving operations. The CBS Manager is responsible for facilitating breakthrough results in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement through the administration of the Crane Business System, facilitating continuous improvement initiatives that include Kaizen events, engineering projects, daily improvement activities, advanced problem solving or Six Sigma projects, 5S, visual management, and lean principles.
Track the progress of key performance indicators and project objectives, provide root cause analysis when performance deviates from target, and work with team members to develop data driven corrective actions to remediate misses to plan.
Manage the administration of plant KPI boards, monthly operating review documents, site productivity performance, the continuous improvement and employee idea funnels, and plant 5S and hazard audit programs.
Manage the administration of plant Kaizen events.
Oversee the development and maintenance of the site continuous improvement roadmap, ensuring that the roadmap aligns with key business objectives, roadmap activities are clearly communicated to key stakeholders, projects and events are resourced effectively, and results are updated monthly.
Oversee the advancement of plant associates in the fundamentals of the Crane Business System through the development of Tool Champions, balanced Kaizen participation, coaching, training, and mentoring.
Mentor associates to promote the incorporation of CBS, Six Sigma, lean, daily problem solving, and continuous improvement principles into their day-to-day activities with the appropriate level of rigor related to reviews, data driven decisions, prioritization, and management.
Develop and maintain world class 5S and visual management practices throughout all areas of the site.
Be a key member of the site leadership team and foster a winning culture that consistently demonstrates appreciation and recognition of all associates.
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related technical field required.
- MBA recommended.
3 to 5 years’ experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
- Black Belt certification a plus.
Hands on experience using advanced continuous improvement methods (Lean / TPM / Six Sigma / TQM / DMAIC) both as a team member and team leader.
Proven track record of leading lean initiatives with substantial positive business results.
Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills: identifying opportunities for improvement, applying a disciplined approach to determine root cause, and implementing appropriate corrective actions.
History of excellent task management skills, possessing the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously to achieve desired results.
Strong influencer and team player with good mentoring and coaching skills.
Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
