Job Description
Salary: $20.00 Per Hour

All Covenant House Alaska employees are required to have or obtain a COVID-19 vaccination as a term and condition of employment unless an exemption has been approved. Position Summary

The Support Services Associate reports to the Facilities Lead Associate and will assist primarily in janitorial duties and providing general assistance to the support services team. The Support Services Associate will maintain facility janitorial needs both interior and exterior, and ensure the facility is in a clean and orderly condition. This is a Full-Time, Temporary, Non-Benefited position. This position is temporary with an end date of 6/30/2022.

 

Essential Functions:

  • General housekeeping duties: Moping, Vacuuming, Surface Sanitizing, Trash Removal etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring clean and well-kept work, living, and external areas at all CHA facilities.
  • Handles routine moping, vacuuming, and sanitization of trafficked areas.
  • Supports program staff with necessary cleaning and sanitization.
  • Informs the Facilities Lead Associate of issues and needs regarding the maintenance of facilities and equipment and providing services as requested by superiors.
  • Assists in the maintenance of inventory logs for all equipment and material and helps to control the movement of supplies and equipment off-site.
  • Takes a physical count of items in use or in storage on and off-site storage areas.
  • Follows cleaning request process.
  • Assists program and Admin staff with heavy lifting, equipment cleaning and sanitization of areas and equipment.
  • Provide for receiving, sorting, and using donations and other supplies in the safest and most productive manner for the agency.
  • Assists as needed with fundraising affairs and special events which may be conducted outside the employee's normal work schedule. This may include participating in event set up or disassembling apparatus during or after events.
  • Safely and properly handles all agency property including tools, equipment and chemicals.
  • At times may work in inclement weather, noisy conditions and occasional work above 6' in height.
  • Proactive in taking on other duties identified or as assigned.
  • Keep supervisor fully informed at all times
  • Ensure the safety of youth seen by CHA at all times

 

                    

Qualifications


Education

High School Diploma required, further training in a maintenance or janitorial field preferred.


Experience

One year of related experience and a demonstrated ability to perform maintenance and janitorial tasks.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:


  • Understand and comply with all Agency policies and procedures; including Child Protection Policies.
  • Can maintain confidentiality while understanding and complying with requirements of mandated reporting, duty to warn, HIPAA, and other limits to confidentiality.
  • Willingness to utilize training opportunities in support of personal and professional growth, competence development, and to increase overall capacity to best serve the organization every day.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fluid environment.
  • Proficient with standard computer operating systems. Ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite, online databases, and other programs and websites as required.
  • Willingness and ability to work outside of normal business hours as well as Holidays and weekends as needed.
  • Willingness and ability to attain a CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Pass federal, state, and local background check investigations.
  • Possess a valid Driver's License with an insurable driving record.
  • Technical skills in routine facility maintenance and vehicle up-keep.
  • Knowledge of and technical abilities in trades such as carpentry, construction, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks related to the position including but not limited to heavy lifting (up to 75+ pounds), driving a minivan, and remaining on feet for as long as eight hours per shift.
