Facility:

Medical Center has served its community since 1950 and is now one of only a handful of independent, community-based hospitals remaining in North Carolina. The healthcare facility serves as an academic training center for medical students, interns and residents. Accredited by The Joint Commission, the system offers a range of medical services including acute care, outpatient surgery, emergency and critical care, and women’s health and children’s services. Specialties include general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics & gynecology, and urology. The system provides valuable outpatient services such as physical therapy and diagnostic imaging in state-of-the-art centers, home health, a premier Health + Wellness Center, and a network of physician practices that include primary care, women’s health, general surgery, pain management, and urgent care.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a resource for and extension of the CNO and Administration.
  • Assists at the Departmental and Organizational level to ensure quality patient care.
  • Evaluates the patient care provided in Department and alerts appropriate personnel when there are concerns.

Quality/Clinical and Customer Services Excellence

  • Maintains a strong clinical knowledge based and high level of clinical competency; Keep current with best practices.
  • Leads departmental process improvements/participates in and/or leads in Organizational
  • process improvement projects

Fiscal Responsibilities

  • Responsible for fiscal oversight of the department to include but not limited to budget development and performance, expenses, revenue, contribution margin and productivity reports

Educational/Knowledge Assessment

  • Identifies areas of clinical growth for staff and initiations or coordinates strategies for improvement
  • Ensures all staff have or obtain the appropriate skills for the patient type in area of responsibility

Staffing/Scheduling

  • Ensures all staff members have appropriate skills and competencies for their patient assignment
  • Responsible for staffing and scheduling of the staff and that the staffing, scheduling and patient care assignment practices are consistent with the regulatory and professional licensure requirements and professional organizational recommendations

Relationship Building

  • Develops and fosters relationships with staff, Leadership team, Administration and Physicians. Maintains open communication. Maintains positive and professional communication at all times – as this is a role that is an extension of Administration.
  • Problem solves with staff and alerts appropriate personnel to issues or concerns that arise with staff.
  • Develops program designed to provide appropriate documentation for skills in home unit and skills for reallocation (as needed).

Performance and Process Improvement

  • Responsible for development and implementation of unit based performance improvement initiatives.
