Job Description

Department: Circuit Court

Affiliation: Non-Union

General Summary:

Under the supervision of a Circuit Court Judge, provides secretarial and support services to the Judge. Schedules pretrials, motions, show cause hearings and trials for the Judge. Types correspondence, notices, decisions, and other documents, screens callers, maintains office files and performs other secretarial functions. Serves as primary back-up to Court Recorder.

Employment Qualifications: 

Education: High school graduation or equivalent with some advanced college level coursework in legal secretarial, paralegal or related areas preferred.

Experience: Two years of secretarial experience in a court or law office ore related setting providing knowledge in Circuit Court functions and procedures.

Other Requirements: Must attain State of Michigan certification as a Certified Electronic Recorder (CER) within first (1) year of employment and recertify as applicable.
